Animal Style Fries at In-N-Out Burger

Fail, what? No way.

I think a fair comparison for In-N-Out's animal style fries would be poutine, and clearly: animal fries > poutine. Anyday, anytime.

And really, if that picture looks unappetizing, then what about Burger King's Angry Whopper? That picture was clearly photoshopped, and I got indigestion just looking at it. That picture is like cheese, softcore food porn for me. Pun intended.

Williams-Sonoma and Bialetti's New Hot Chocolate Maker

Funny this should be posted since a couple of days ago I commented:

Goofy kitchen appliances (please don't buy that for me!)

Has anyone seen those hot chocolate makers? It's like a blender that warms and mixes the milk (or water) and the hot chocolate powder mix. An old roommate had one, and it was loud, bulky, and took up too much space on the counter. Uh? What about a pot on the stove and your lazy bum stirring it every now and then?

The untensil lamp is cool, but I can see that red cup lamp at the next SigEp house party.

In-N-Out 60th Anniversary Promotion a Hoax

Nuh-uh. No way. I'm a selfish Californian (transplanted to New York) who wants In-N-Out only in California (and parts of Nevada and Arizona). I'm sorry, but no. Nuh-uh. It just wouldn't be the same... I mean, at least they don't air national ads like that tease called Sonic.

Yay! Costco! I was afraid they'd have a bad rep here, so I'm glad other people love it as much as I do.

Tocino: The Filipino 'Bacon' at Isla Pilipina in Chicago

Sweet. Filipino food represent.

Glad to see that this has made its way to SE. I've never really considered it as bacon though since I normally boil it when I seldom (and unfortunately) have it.

If you like tocino, then you have to try longanisa, which is like a chorizo.

Oh man, I'm hungry.

Jackfruit is love. That's all there is too it. Chop it up, mix with some coconut strings, red beans, and shaved ice, and top it off with some evaporated milk. I'm drooling just thinking about it...

Jackfruit is the good twin to durian's evil.

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

West Virginia is the pepperoni roll, first made for miners as an easy to carry and eat lunch.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

I feel that the state sandwich for Massachusetts should be a meatball sub.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

I'm from MA and I can say this is probably the best decision the legislature has made in a very long time. I also love it because it is just so wonderfully politically incorrect. Just think some places would want to tax it. Of course, since the state is almost bankrupt, that may be next.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

I was going to say that New Mexico's should be the Albuquerque Turkey (turkey, jack cheese, and green chile) until I saw a green chile cheeseburger further up in the comments.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

I am originally from California and I agree avocado has to be on any sandwich from there. But I really love French Dips!

I now live in Raleigh, NC and I agree with both on the mater sandwich with Duke's mayo and/or homemade pimento cheese on white bread as well as a really good pulled pork sandwich on a bun with slaw. Hold the sauce
as my tummy won't take it.

And I will chime in on the Necco wafers as well, I like the chocolate ones the best and they are the hardest to find!

@maybert:
What about the bbq sandwhich for NC? BBQ w/ vinegar sauce & slaw on a bun...yum

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

Even though I've never had one, I must agree that NJ's official sandwich should be Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a hard roll. They're ubiquitous here, but don't exist anywhere else.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

The other Texans have beat me to saying brisket. :) But it's rather iconic, and you can find it all across the state, so it makes sense.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

Raised in CT, but I live in Massachusetts now, and I've STILL never had a fluffernutter sandwich. I love peanut butter sandwiches (and, occasionally, pb&j), but fluff really doesn't appeal to me. It just looks so sticky and overly sweet. Maybe it's because I hate marshmallows?

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

I'm with the other Texan out there (Sweet E), a chopped beef sandwich all the way (that's chopped BBQ brisket drenched in BBQ sauce for all of those out there not in the know).

I'll go ahead and grab the grilled cheese for Ohio. Nice, plain, middle-american fare.
If not the grilled cheese then definitely the cheese-coney (I'm looking at you Cinci)

Maine - lobster roll with potato chips and blueberry pie.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

I'm from NJ, and have never had (nor never will injest) a Taylor Pork Roll. I think that is a South Jersey thing.

My votes for NJ: A Boardwalk hot dog from the Windmill (mustard, relish or sauerkraut), a buttered roll; or a really good Italian sub

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

Grew up in IL, and I'm torn between Gyros, Italian Beef (dipped of course) or maybe even the classic Chicago dog.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

I grew up in MA and on Fluffernutters. They just make me so happy, even today.
Now that I'm in GA, I'd say the state sandwich down here should be a chicken biscuit from Chik-fil-A.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

What, Massachusetts doesn't have a state cookie? Should be the toll house, of course. I love that they're considering the number 6 as the state number.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

NECCO wafers rule, especially now that they come in the little halloween pkgs (The standard roll is about 4 inches long, the Halloween's 1 inch). So handy to bring somewhere for a little something sweet, and they never, ever spoil. The flavors are distinctive and clean (my favorites are licorice and lime) Good glove compartment food. And, as betteirene points out, great for roofing tiles.

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

@ ilovebutter...I guess perhaps youre right... we are from God's country... If God was from a land of toothless circus freaks!

(we are just a little redneck here, and in case you hadn't heard "it's alright to be a redneck")

Of course I was kidding, raised in NH and am damn proud of my state, but a crepe?! I'll give you the maple, either maple butter or syrup... but definitely not a damned crepe. Perhaps a maple glazed donut before a crepe. (but neither are a sandwich)

How about curried oysters with dried cranberries and diced granny smith apple on hearty sourdough?

ALABAMA- That would definitely have to be a Chicken Biscuit.... Damn I love those things!

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

Yeah, pastrami on rye is a great sammie, but it hardly represents the state of NY; heck, it only represents a swath of the city! When I'm at Katz's, it's a Reuben for me and mine, and we ain't the only ones noshing on those non-kosher entries...No, to stand as a STATE candidate, the choice must be more ubiquitous, and I'm throwing my support to the grilled cheese for the Empire State--but maybe only 'cause no one here has yet claimed it. It I wanted a civil war, I'd nominate the beef on 'weck. Anybody wanna fight?

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

I think I must be the only person in the state of Massachussetts that detests marshmallow fluff. Perhaps I should lobby my local representative to introduce a competing bill with roast beef as a candidate for state sandwich.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

Wait, fluffernutters are regional? What did your mom give you as a "special treat" version of PBJ when you were a kid? I feel very sad for the rest of the country, suddenly.

From Serious Eats

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

@ Pavlov: Squirrel? Exhaust manifold? Ouch! We are sooooo not redneck! (even in the upper part of the state!) For our state sandwich, I nominate a crepe with apples and maple syrup -- taking influence from New England and our neighbors to the north, and of course from the Silver Moon Creperie in Dover (who deserves more credit than they receive).
