I screwed up making bread =(
Spend the money and pick up the book, a bread bakers apprentice. commit some time, and expect to throw away some bread. look at it as anexperiment, so take notes, weigh your ingredients, write it down and when making adjustments from one batch to another, only change one ingredient.
get this book, it will solve your prblems. it is more like a textbook than a book of recipes, although it has many recipes, good luck and don't give up, your basic recipe is identical to mine.
Major Pet Peeve
i can see if it's a friend that you know that she knows she's a vegan, but it is a small thing to me, pick something else. one of my pet peeves is if something is so small a distraction and someone calls that one of their pet peeves, aaarrrrggh!! just being sarcastic.
this one may fall under the small category, i make sausages, sometimes i grill them up, and sometimes people will ask me what kind of dogs or how much are the dogs, or ya' got any mustard or you know....you should really make a nice mustard or gimme a couple 'a dogs..... they are sausages not hot dogs. i just smile and show them the sausages and then they say...wow, now that's a sausage.
ok, sorry, the ipa is making me flake, the dog thing doesn't bother me, the mustard thing starts to p*ss me off a bit, depending on the delivery of the question, but usually a customer chimes in and says, oh wait, try it w/o mustard, you'll say it doesn't need anything, trust me, so now that i've written this stuff out, no pet peeves.
College Football Food
Here, i'll hook you up w/ a simple recipe. get some big chicken wings, makea mixture of flour, salt, cayenne pepper and some smoked papria. don't just dredge the chicken in the flour mixture, press it into the wings, just dump the padded resonably dry wings into a bowl w/ the flour, then fry them up.
ok, a sauce, melt some butter and add a hot sauce to it, if you want to intensify it, slowly cook it down, reduce it, let the wings take a dip in the sauce or serve the wings dry w/ sauce on the side w/ some type of dairy based sauce.
Hot Dog: Happy Go Lucky Sausage, or, Child Murderer?
i make a frankfurter inspired sausage, blows away nathans,and the others.
no, never eat hot dogs, why would i. the only time i eat another sausage or dog is if someone made it and they want an honest reaction, i'm also a sausage consultant, have a gr8 labor day weekend!!

make a veggie paella, bring some nice oranges and garnish w/ oranges, maybe some broccoli, basil or cilantro.

Labor Day Eats - What are you making?
picking up 2 growlers of ipa from 2 different local brewers, and i'll cook up a couple pounds of my sausages, staying home w/ the dogs.

Never watched the FN, i have a small sausage, ravioli and pasta shop in albuquerques' north valley, i hear this same thread from many of my customers. i'll run some of my recipes by them and they'll say, never heard of that one on FN, and that is why i never watched it , i don't want it to pollute my creative impulses. they are shooting drive ins and dives in ABQ this week, many people have told me to go to meet guy, i didn't even know who he was, i'm too busy making sausages.

Favorite Encased Meats...
my favorite changes from week to week, it depends on what i am inventing, lately i have been making sausages that go well w/ a cold hoppy local ipa, grilled sausage and ipa! ok, i'll fess up, the last sausage i created that has been my most recent favorite as well as customers favorites is my original recipe spicy frankfurter sausage!! it doesn't sound like anything special, but that's the ploy, your palate is not expecting the onslaught of flavor.

I am from wisconsin, you may have bought sausage from my grandmother. i moved to albuquerque 12 years ago, stayed because i noone else makes sausage.

I cook on a propane powered custom grill and many people taste that i get a heck of a lot of flavor. i've been to many cook outs and contests w/ the hardcore charcoal experts w/ their cans of bud light, to each his or her own, i just wonder how many competitions the people w/ the strongest opinions have won?
