Ohhh...almost impossible to choose. I'm longing for/missing the hazelnut-studded chocolate from Italy. Mmmm

Spice Hunting: Sussing Out Vanilla Beans

Cook the Book: 'The Book of New Israeli Food'

Besides bad hummus and falafel in my teens, a wonderful Israeli vegetarian restaurant in Philadelphia called Mama's Vegetarian. Fantastic hummus and falafel, but the pickled vegetables/sides are the best!

Vanilla Bean Sables

yes, the sable recipe is wonderful and versatile. Greenspan makes specific note NOT to overbeat sable dough in the creaming stage--you want dense, not fluffy, butter/sugar. Mix thoroughly, but not enough to over-warm the butter.

Vanilla bean sable sounds delightful! I often make these as pecan, replacing 1/2 cup flour with very finely ground pecans. Delicious...

Happy National Animal Cracker Day

My son and I LOVE animal crackers! They're our go-to snack! I like them when they're broken, so there's no "side" to choose from in deciding which to eat first.

Cook the Book: 'Plenty'

Wow, hard one, as I'm a vegetarian and try to innovate all the time. Maybe a zucchini/polenta/pumpkin puree dish I had in Italy. MMM!

Cook the Book: Penne with Mascarpone

I always find that mascarpone "breaks" when heated (at all). I just mix it in with drained pasta and let the hot pasta melt it.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Pasta Mancini Collection

Impossible to pick one way! Pasta's like bread--could so many ways! Depends on the season and my mood: aglio e olio (with hot peppers), stuffed, filled...You name it! Yum!
