Young & Hungry: Pio Pio's Secret Green Sauce and Fried Hot Dogs

Just had Pio Pio for the first time on Wednesday night. What a steal! Full chicken: $12 (outstanding taste and sauce on the chicken). Each side was $3 each - we ordered maduros (wonderful), yuca frita (a little tough), and saffron rice (nice). Two of us had leftovers for another night - this $20 meal could have fed 4! You've gotta try the chicken and other sides at this place.

At Veselka, Forgo the Borscht and Get the Burger

Tried the burger last night and was a big fan. The burger does indeed fit the bun perfectly. Ordered the cheeseburger sans fries and instead opted for a raspberry blintz and a potato pancake. Thought the burger was cooked really well (perfectly, not well done) and the sides came out great too. I can see myself heading back sometime soon. Thanks for the review!

One of my favorites in NYC for sure. I spent a summer as an intern and a friend I went to J.G.'s every Monday night and Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien every Friday afternoon (within walking distance of our office).

I had been going plain cheeseburger for awhile, but in my recent trips I have added grilled onions - I feel like they add a nice flavor. I look forward to trying the bacon on my next trip.

Also, the cottage fries are fantastic - I order them well done as I like mine crispy. They remind me of the cottage fries I had growing up in Cleveland, Ohio at a place called Yours Truly. At YT they have a specialty called Notso Fries:

Notso Fries™ They’re notso common. Golden brown cottage fries with melted cheese, bacon pieces and a dollop of sour cream.

Highly recommended if you make it up to NE Ohio...

The bacon coming in 'shards' is a really good idea. I'm surprised more places don't do it.
