We Try the Diner Double Beef, a '50s-Themed Burger From McDonald's Japan

@Lorenzo - Musings are one of my favorite things. Am I comparing burgers or comparing cultures? Ah, let me muse upon that in the next 1200 words…

@Jsmit86 - Yep, agreed. Everything here is done with care and attention to detail. It's quite amazing, although occasionally frustrating (don't try to order food at 931pm if the last food order closed at 930pm). Overall, though, I'm a big fan of the attention to detail.

@Erin - Thanks! The egg is, as @Lancaster describes, warm and if not king of the hill of fast food eggs, at least a duke. It tastes surprisingly like…an egg. The Japanese actually have some weird deal with the devil for making consistently perfect medium boiled eggs, too, but that's a whole 'nother topic.

@RunWimpyRun - According to their site, it looks like McDonald's here uses 100% New Zealand Beef in their patties.

@Chuckswagon - Thanks. Definitely a unique food culture, and just culture in general. I wonder if it has as much to do with the occupation as it does with a more recent love for American movies (especially in the 80's when Japan viewed themselves as greatly superior to the US in most areas besides movies). I would say the most 'nostalgic' are not the older generation, but those under the age of maybe 50.
