This Week at Serious Eats World Headquarters

You know, I don't usually do this but I keep opening this slideshow and clicking through it so I can look at that little face again and again. I bet he wiggles when you hold him. I think I'm in love.

Do you like buffets...really?

@redfish: "I love them with a passion that knows no bounds, but I have to avoid them because I love them with a passion that knows no bounds."

I cracked up so hard at that one! You sound like my kind of buffet companion.

It's funny, when I was pregnant a thousand years ago I craved cafeteria food so about once a week we'd go to Old Country Buffet. The thought horrifies me now! Eesh, the germ factor alone . . . On the other hand, I've experienced some mind-blowing buffet extravaganzas in Korea that were just superb (and expensive). In Miami, Michael's Genuine Food & Drink and also Talula do exquisite buffets, made with obvious care and of great quality. Just depends on where you go, I think.

Welcome to little Hambone, you are in loving hands and we are so happy to celebrate your arrival! Here's to more puppy, and more continued delicious food -- I wasn't under the impression that we had to worry about rationing our attention here into categories. Congratulations SE, love you guys!

7 Food and Drink Trends We've Noticed So Far in 2011

I'm amused by the growing popularity of kimchi. I think it started with the Mexican-Korean taco fusion trend and seems to be expanding.

Dear Food Network, Please Stop

Well I'm grateful to everyone here for making me feel less alone. I feel lucky that I first became acquainted with FN when it exhibited a true regard and respect for good food and real chefs who were dedicated to their craft. I used to have it on my tv all the time. Now sometimes I can't even stand to watch the promos for FN that appear on other shows! The whole channel has become a marketing ploy, in my opinion, to push FN's own products, and push out chefs who had enough culinary credibility to wield some contract negotiating power with the network. They fill their programming now with "chefs" who are willing to hand over much of their product- and endorsement-related income to FN. Anyway the point is, i don't watch the channel anymore. It provides nothing of value to me, and in fact, annoys me. Oh and btw, the downhill slide of the channel is mirrored in their website as well.

Dinner Tonight: Sweet Potato, Eggplant, and Spinach Madras Curry

A nice solution to the dryness problem might be to add a chopped tomato or two with the rest of the vegetables. I wouldn't give up on this dish, it has a lot of potential!
