fresh cranberry beans!

This is obviously far too late for this particular instance, but maybe something to think about the next time you buy shelling beans. You can absolutely use them, but you won't benefit from the prettiness, sorry. But you'll get good feelings by avoiding waste!

What is your favorite use for tahini?

baba ganoush made with roasted eggplant. Sometimes with chickpeas added in, so it becomes a hummus/BG hybrid. yum.

Green Tomato Ideas Needed

Went to a potluck last week and there was an amazing whole wheat semi-sweet bread made with green tomatoes and raisins. A nice combination of savory, sweet & nutty. Might be worth a web search.

Not-Boring Thanksgiving Recipes?

I regularly make a potato dish that treads the line between 'traditional' and 'different': Cider Scalloped Potatoes. Instead of broth, use good, fresh cider so you get a good tang & some sweetness, and then smoked gouda to add another element to the taste. I've done it with regular potatoes, with turnips, with celeriac and even with sweet potatoes. It's amazing and people ask about it years after...
