I could not agree more with what shasta said. I wouldn't make a habit of buying them because I prefer local and fresh, but in a pinch, why not? And if someone who won't normally eat veggies or fruit picks some up because of Paula Deen, then mission accomplished.

@piccola, yes, you can freeze chipotles. I freeze mine in a big lump and just grate off a bit when I want to add some hot smokey flavor to a dish.
