meechiko: Palitaw sounds like something else the Chinese have called "tang yuan". I love learning how similar foods and dishes are interpreted and played on by different cultures =)
inotherwords: I'm afraid I've never been to SF, but I'm sure they'll have some version of a chewy, glutinous rice treat there!

omg, my mom used to always describe the texture of some foods as "qq" when i was growing up and i thought she was crazy. i thought we were the only ones that used that. it's a real term!
