I was having a group of 6 friends over. They were visiting from Japan. I attempted to cook them authentic Japanese food, including sashimi. 3hrs later, we all discovered (nearly simultaneously) that there had been food poisoning.
Restaurants in Vancouver-not expensive, just really good food
Chinese food is awesome there! I recommend going to Richmond for some steamed pork dumplings. There's a few good places, but I think Shanghai House at 6340 - No. 3 Road across from Richmond Center is the best. Fish and chips in Steveston.
Also, Chambar (Belgian) is a must for mussels congolaise in Vancouver.
Guu with Garlic on Thurlow and in Richmond are open for lunch, but dinner is much better.

I like to try different candy recipes during the Christmas Holidays, so a few years ago, I found a recipe for homemade cherry chocolates. They were easy to make and tasted great, so I made a lot of them, for family and friends. Now, every Christmas they all want more of them, lol, which is fine, with me, they are easy to make and you can make them early in the season. They improve with age.

Biggest success is when I make my Candy Bar Cheeskcake. Always turns out perfect. I have never had any horrifyingly bad experiences. So far, so good (knock on wood).
