Stumptown Coffee: Let's Call a Spade A Spade Here
I'm from stumptown, and I have to say when I'm home I generally stock up. When I was in college, my freezer was constantly packed with bags of coffee I'd brought from portland.
That being said, I think you need to try it again. You must have had the wrong kind, because at least to me stumptown tastes nothing like flowers.
While I (gasp) do enjoy starbucks, stumptown is smoother, doesn't taste burned, and if one of the only coffees I love black. Iced Americano's from one of their shops have to be a favourite of mine.
Ah, I miss it... I'm too far away now.
Although, like I said maybe you should re-try it... or maybe you should just go to Portland, and embrace the whole experience.
Favorite Oatmeal Concoction?
I cut up half a banana and cook it in with the oats. If you make them in the mirowave put the banana in with the oats and water, and i use a bit of salt and perhaps a few raisins. i cook it for a min or so, and then mix it all together, and cook it for another min-min and a half. it makes it super creamy and delicious without using milk.
when it's done i add cinn and a little bit of sweetner. it's amazing...
Must-Go Places in San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle
Hopworks is great in portland for an amazing ipa, and the best soft pretzel sticks... ever. I haven't tried the rest of the food, but im sure it's good. The enviroment is really cool too. I recommend
Andina in the peral is awesome Peruvian food, it's a bit expensive though.
Esparza's has amazing texmex in se portland. great tamales and mole.
For cheaper lunch food, Laughing Planet on 21st and also on Hawthorne is a favorite of mine-- lots of veggie stuff and interesting burrito combos.
Pok Pok is always popular.... you should probably go there too.
Ah, I miss portland already..

Complain, complain.
I think the problem here is that you are not understanding how many of these restaurants work, and in turn are deciding your plate of hot food coming out before the person next to you makes your server lazy.
However, this is not the case. Sometimes food comes up before other food. You order pasta and someone orders pizza and a restaurants is busy, they're going to try and get everything out as soon as possible. The servers bringing out your food have a manager breathing down their necks most likely yelling things about the hot food getting cold. They are not doing this to get you out of a restaurant sooner, they are doing it because they know if you get cold food you're going to have a hissy fit
People who work in restaurants do not have magic powers, they are people too.
Maybe in the future if you're so concerned about food coming out at the same time you should pay the extra money to eat somewhere where the focus is more on getting the food out.
