Whole Chicken in a Can Taste Test
I can't believe that there would be demand for that type of product. It looks horrendous!

Cook the Book: '660 Curries' by Raghavan Iyer
First time I remember, was when I was in college and lived in an Indian neighborhood. Went to one of the vegetarian Indian restaurants - Had aloo mutter. Was good, not my favorite, but definitely was off to a great start with that meal.

Kosher style for sure - solves that craving I get about two times a year.
Dinner Tonight: Köfte Meatballs with Haydari
This looks awesome! I am going to try this recipe this weekend. I wonder if there is a way to make the haydari non dairy. If I could substitute a soy yogurt or soy based sour cream?
Cook the Book: 'Tacos'
I remember back in college days sitting outside with a group of friends and eating fish tacos. It had alot more to do with just casual dining outside. Pure fun! Good food too!
Cook the Book: 'Food Matters: A Guide to Conscious Eating'
He gives me recipes that just make sense in the day to day way of easy living.
Cook the Book: 'Kneadlessly Simple'
I love baking a heart honey wheat oatmeal bread. It's great for sandwiches!
Cook the Book: 'On the Line'
I love a simple grilled salmon on the BBQ.

Any vegetable curry over rice
Cook the Book: 'Baking Unplugged'
I once accidentally put in a bit more salt than was called for...like 2 tablespoons instead of 2 teaspoons. It was pretty awful tasting. The consistence was bad too.
Rice Cooker Recommendations?
The Zojirushi, and other fuzzy logic rice cookers are wonderful, but not in the right price range for most. I had an Aroma rice cooker that I got at Costco for around $30, it is like that cool touch one. It lasted, with heavy use, for around 8 years. It was still working when I gave it away.
Liberté Yogurt: My Holy Grail of Dairy Products
It is available in NYC. I buy my Liberte at Dagostinos.

Definitely spanikopita
Cook the Book: 'Into the Vietnamese Kitchen'
I would like to cook more whole foods for my family. Would like to cook from scratch more and meal plan better, so I do not rush to convenience products.

McDonald's Filet-O-Fish: Yea or Nay?
I grew up with this. I kept the kind of kosher where this was the only thing at McD's that we were allowed to eat. I have never had a Happy Meal. When I was very young, I used to call these Cheeseburgers because of that yummy slice of plasticky American Cheese. The more tartar sauce the better. I used to dip my fries in the sauce that oozed out. I haven't had one in years. Tempting...
anyone been to corrado's in clifton, nj?
I go there every so often. It is very busy, so it's sometimes a mess. Not too gourmet there, but they have some good finds. Some good cheeses and fish. Definitely cheap. The few times I have bought fish there, I didn't find it so fresh.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
A Hole in One!!!! My grandfather used to make these for me when I was a very little girl, visiting him in Lancaster, PA. He was not a golfer. He was first-generation American of Swedish descent, who had grown up in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Liberté Yogurt: My Holy Grail of Dairy Products
having tried different liberte flavors- I have something slightly blasphemous to add: I might prefer Liberte's yogurt over most ice creams.
McDonald's Filet-O-Fish: Yea or Nay?
I haven't had one in decades but just to keep this sandwich going, I will go there and have them.
McDonald's Filet-O-Fish: Yea or Nay?
They're tastey but they're like 700 calories each!!!!!!
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
Some great names here - I love Egyptian Eyes especially! But wow: over 200 comments, and apparently no one else calls them "top hats". (And yes, I always thought my mother invented them, too. :) )
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
My hubby made these for me for me all the time when we were in college - we call them Eggs in a Basket.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
@Ed Levine - My mom called them "Egyptian eggs" as well. I think me, you and Embackus's friend were the only one. It seems to be the least known name for them.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
Eggy in a basket, from V for Vendetta.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
lighthouses still love 'em
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
Everyone knows it's called a "bunny egg". My grandmother invented it.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
Growing up Dad called it a Bulls Eye (from Rhode Island). We always loved when Dad had to make breakfast! He cut the hole with a shot glass so the hole was just big enough for the yolk part and the rest of the egg ran over the bread so you had to flip it and cook that side too! Just don't over cook it and it won't be dry. The hardest part was buttering both sides of the bread. I get around that now by using a brush and softened butter.

It was probably as a child with Chinese/Indian fusion food.

When I was about 14, I was invited to dinner by an Indian woman who lived in my apartment building with whom I had become friendly. It was my very first experience with Indian food. I don't remember what area of India she was from, but the food was so incredibly spicy I could barely eat it.

My first encounter with Indian cuisine was at a restaurant serving vegetarian dishes from southern India. I enjoyed the food there very much.
Cook the Book: '660 Curries' by Raghavan Iyer
My first encounter with Indian curry was a little awkward. We were shy and just kept eyeing each other from across the room. I made my way over to his bowl and introduced myself to him and his friends, chutney, yogurt, chat, and mixed pickle. Taken by his complex textures and worldly influences, I was almost immediately smitten. I have to admit I went home with him that night. It was that first taste that drew me in.

My daughter took me to an Indian restaurant when I visited her once and I tried the chana masala. It's my favorite Indian meal since that day. I've tried a lot of things but that's still my favorite.
