Cook the Book: 'Street Food of India'
My favorite street food experiences were always in Paris. You'd be walking down the street with the smells of crepe / panini vendors at all times of the day. I tried roasted chestnuts for the first time in my life from one of the many people offering them near Pont Neuf and had some every day as snacks until we left. Wonderful smells for such a gloomy season in Paris :-)
350 Million Barrels: Why Food Waste Matters
As someone who has lived by myself for several years, I've learned a great deal about how NOT to waste food. Growing up with a full refrigerator my first few years on my own I would waste so much food as there was no way I could consume it. A few things I learned -
1. Refrigerate your bread (especially if you're like me and like to toast bread with sandwiches or for breakfast. It'll last twice as long.
2. Do not buy produce unless you have it planned in a meal within the next two days. I typically only buy what I need that day.
3. Dry / frozen foods last quite a while (those that come in packages and also freezing fruit like bananas / grapes for snacks).
4. There is NO SHAME having an empty fridge. It's like a clean slate for the next day to buy fresh foods and put them right on the skillet / mix into a salad.
5. Hey, you always have friends. If you want to make a big dinner, share with others :-)

Is Your Pet Named After a Food (or Food Critic)?
I feel slightly embarassed to add my anecdote of having a pet with a food-related name. When I first adopted my cat her name was "Snickers" which I just found too cutesy (who wants to be running around the neighborhood yelling out "Snickers!" when they go missing?
Instead, on the evening she arrived, my friends and I made Mint Juleps and celebrated on the porch and discovered the kitten taking a sip of a mint julep left on the ground. We decided to name her Julep, and it seems to fit her very graceful yet sporatic nature.

The Different Types of Peanut Butter Eaters
I can't keep peanut butter at the house because I'll eat it straight from the jar before I can even use it on anything else!
However spooning some peanut butter over bananas is a great snack. Also on toast or waffles.

In every single large city I go to I am always on the search for the Chinese district, in particular a Chinese bakery (coming from a smaller town in Texas we lack the culinary diversity). There's this little sesame pastry I lovingly refer to as a "sesame ball" filled with red bean paste and tastes just like a donut. Thus far I've managed to track one down in a dozen cities I've visited over the years and taken a photo of every one!
Cereal with Water and Other Cereal Compulsions
I cannot stand milk with my cereal so I usually eat it dry OR with yogurt. I'll have a little container of yogurt and sprinkle on cereal over the top, scoop it out, and add more. It's surprisingly delicious.

I can proudly say that I tried the fried butter this year at the State Fair. The group of guys I went with all had... two helpings of it. It felt wrong, but it was so incredibly good.
It isn't as bad as it sounds either. It tasted just like a warm biscuit with butter in the center!

Hello from Hillary in Texas!
I wanted to share with you that all my female friends are avid whiskey drinkers. As a great mixer with diet coke (a 'girl' drink), we can imbibe whatever amount to our heart's desires without ballooning up. Of course, I may add my friends and I are big drinkers, so it was an acquired taste. I drink almost strictly only whiskey drinks these days and have for the past several years!
Most of the time I drink Jim Beam (great Bourbon for the price). Beats out every brand by far. Jim Beam is a very great friend in my social circle.
