Cook the Book: 'The Best Soups in the World'
Clam chowder in Boston. Or creamy carrot soup when I visited Scotland.
Cook the Book: 'Jamie's Food Revolution'
Pasta with sausage and a creamy sauce. Or grilled cheese and tomato soup!
Cook the Book Party Planner: La Cucina
Rosemary mashed potatoes (from scratch, of course)...make them every year!
Cook the Book: 'Nigella Christmas'
Pastel-colored macarons. So beautiful!
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Charles Chocolates
I'll take any chocolate dessert...but if I had to pick one, I'd go for a warm piece of fudgy chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Cook the Book: 'The King Arthur Flour Cookie Companion'
Sugar cookies at Christmas. We used to do huge batches every year and give them to our teachers at school
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Culinary Adventure Society
Eating dim sum in Hong Kong while overlooking the harbor...amazing!
Cook the Book: 'The Art and Soul of Baking'
Russian tea cookies! Especially when they are still warm and have just been rolled in powdered sugar. Ooooh, but gingerbread comes in a very close second.
Cook the Book: 'Good Eats: The Early Years'
My friends and I started the tradition of having an "orphan Thanksgiving" for all of those in our circle who can't be with their families on the day. Everyone brings their own side dish of choice, so you always end up with a wide variety of flavors....everything from squash casserole to spicy rice to grape salad. Yummy!
Cook the Book: 'Simple Fresh Southern'
Rosemary mashed potatoes. Make them every year for Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Cook the Book: 'How to Roast a Lamb'
Lamb gyro, all the way! I've also had breaded lamb's tongue, but it was not my favorite.
Cook the Book: 'The Pioneer Woman Cooks'
Besides SE, I love Cupcakes Take the Cake. It's my favorite place for yummy cupcake food porn :)
Cook the Book: 'The Craft of Baking'
Harry's Farmer's Market near me used to sell these amazing pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. I used to heat them up before I ate them so the huge chunks of chocolate would be all gooey...and I made my parents ship them to me while I was in college. Sadly, since Whole Foods bought out Harry's they've ceased to sell the muffins...sigh.
Cook the Book: 'Japanese Hot Pots'
Nothing can beat a hearty potato soup (especially if there are chunks of skin left on the potatoes!). I love when there's a little bacon and some cheese on top, too.
Cook the Book: 'Gourmet Today'
My first one was one of those cheesy ones from kindergarten where everyone in the class (meaning, of course, everyone's mother) must submit their favorite recipe and they are all copied and compiled and passed out to everyone. Kind of silly, but fun
Cook the Book: 'Zingerman's Guide to Better Bacon'
bacon is crunchy, salty, super delicious, and tastes good with things both salty and sweet. What more could you want?
Cook the Book: 'Bite-Size Desserts'
Mini muffins!!! Haha
Cook the Book: 'What We Eat When We Eat Alone'
I love making sandwiches with pita bread or bagels. Recently I've been scrambling a couple of eggs to throw on there :)
Cook the Book: Easy Gluten-Free Baking
How can I pick just one???? Let's see...anything with chocolate, really :) Probably pumpkin chocolate chip muffins....
Cook the Book: '100 Best Vegetarian Recipes'
Pasta! Especially with feta and spinach.
Cook the Book: '660 Curries' by Raghavan Iyer
I became good friends with an Indian girl in college and she introduced me to Indian food. My first dish ever was chicken tikka masala, and I was hooked!
Cook the Book: 'Mrs. Rowe's Little Book of Southern Pies'
I messed up a cake mix many years ago...added too much water!
Thankfully, it's been a long time since I had any baking disasters :)
