West Branch, the Neighborhood Restaurant of a Serious Eater's Dreams

This restaurant has a real problem! It's called attitude at the door. I made a reservation for 9:45 and when I arrived ON TIME the maitre d' barked at me that I had exactly 5 minutes before the kitchen closed. I refuse to be treated like I was in a diner especially when I'm about to drop $150+. If they were so concerned about the kitchen, they shouldn't allow reservations past 9:30PM. I don't think I'll be going back any time soon!

We really wanted to like this place since we love Ouest. The food ranged from good (cheese gougeres) to over-rated (fish and chips for $20!) The atmosphere was nice, but for the price, we would rather spend our money elsewhere.

Has anyone had the foie gras there? I'm going tonight and I love foie gras, but their foie gras appetizer hasn't been listed as a "must-have" by any reviews I've read.
