Cook the Book: 'The Tex-Mex Cookbook'
Red beans and rice. . . though I'm thinking of doing chili this year.

Greenberg's? Pheh! The icing is good, but the cake is too fluffy, almost Twinkie-like. They are actually better if you let them get a little stale.
I have not had any of the upstate black and whites, but here in the city, my vote for best b&w goes to the East Broadway Kosher Bakery on Grand St.--they've been my favorite since they actually were on East Broadway. The cookie is moist without being spongy; the icing has the appropriate light snap, but is not the sugar helmet that too many inferior cookies wear.
In addition, with Kossar's and the Donut Plant within 100 feet, it has to be one of my favorite culinary blocks in the world. (And the Pickle Guy is just around the corner, too!)
gimme a dry-aged ribeye, somewhere between rare and medium rare!
Salt Lick - Austin, TX
It's still hoch ybrig. . . though I've got a big soft spot for Joe's fresh salted mozzarella.
I make a pasta with bacon, shallots, garlic, chopped tomatoes, vodka, a splash of red sauce, and a touch of cream. . . it was originally a "what's in the fridge?" recipe, but now I make it all the time.
But, my very favorite bacon dish is BACON. It don't need nothing else!
Depends on the ham. . . maybe a good sharp dijon-style mustard, maybe a little butter and sea salt. . . apple butter is also nice. . . but if I had to vote for one, I would choose fig confiture and aged manchego.
Hoch Ybrig - it's like gruyere meets aged gouda. . . on steroids.
I likes me some crispy bacon--but with distinct pockets of juicy fat!
Award me the bacon, and you can come to my "pancake of the month" club!
