Tootlach, anyone?

I have a friend who raves about this purportedly traditional Italian dish called "tootlach" (he swears he spells it correctly) that his family makes for holidays. From what I can gather, it's some sort of large dumpling, almost a loaf of bread, that is rolled with cheeses, mushrooms, greens and other fillings and then almost braised in a rich tomato sauce. Regardless, it's supposed to be amazing and I can't ever find any recipes or reference to it online.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

(And, yes, I could just ask my friend, but what would be the fun in that?)

Fast food fries. Which ones are good?

Arthur Treacher's. Bar none. I crave them and can't find them in the US...except in Sandusky, Ohio...near Cedar Point.

I think it's in its own category of side dish (not much that categorizes it as a fry really applies), but I really do like Burger King fries. Not for their potato-y-ness or any other high and mighty taste cause, I just like 'em.

In Canada we have a chain called New York fries, they're pretty good skin on medium cut fries. Also have a decent selection of toppings such as chili cheese, poutine (cheese curds and gravy), orange cheese sauce and beef gravy.

Checkers/Rally's Checkers is called Rallys here in Ohio, They leave the skin on and put seasoning of some sort, they are hands down the best out of all the chains unless I make Jo-Jo fries at home.

Cookout fries no doubt. I love that North Carolina chain. Cajun fries would make my nights sooo much better after rehearsals. Chick Fil A, Wendys, and Five Guys are also really good.

Thrashers fries are the best fries in the world, but I'm not sure they count as fast food.

Lion's Choice, so long as they don't overseason them (which they often do). Good texture, deep russet flavor. Great fries!

P. Terry's! Austin-based chain that always makes their french fries fresh to order. They're thin, salty, crunchy, with just enough of a soft, puffy inside to be satisfying. I always promise myself that I'll save half the bag for later, but it never happens.

I used to work at Steak n shake and when those fries were fresh they were awesome. I live in the east now and don't get them. Steak n Shake is pretty good all around.
