DVD Giveaway: Food, Inc.

Although it's a bit more expensive to try and buy organic and all-natural foods, the end result is more than worth it, and I've taken steps in that direction by seeking out coupons for organic brands and stores like Whole Foods, begun visiting local farmer's markets, and joined a local CSA with a friend of mine to share the costs. Thanks!

Cook the Book: '100 Best Vegetarian Recipes'

My favorite meatless meal would have to be the Lebanese stew a good friend of mine made for a dinner party once - such a hearty mix of carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, leeks, onions, radishes, and spices, and I really couldn't have enough. Now that I have the recipe I make it all the time as a real comfort food type of meal. Thanks!

Cook the Book: '660 Curries' by Raghavan Iyer

My first encounter with Indian cuisine was with a campus vender at my undergraduate university, which I stumbled upon in my first week there -- he served all freshly made, authentic vegetarian Indian dishes at student-friendly prices, and the first dish I tried was a sampler platter of chanamasala, dal, aloo mutter, and naan, and a whole new world of tastes and flavors was opened up to me. And I went back to that same vender at least 2-3 times a week for the next four years!

Cook the Book: 'L.A.'s Original Farmers Market Cookbook'

I love the famer's market at the North Market in my hometown of Columbus, Ohio - local producers without fail have a terrific selection of beautiful fruits (with exceptionally large and juicy strawberries) and veggies. It's a weekend tradition for me and my friends to visit it and stock up for the week.

Cook the Book: 'Modern Spice'

Would love to learn how to cook Indian food, preferably Vegetarian and Vegan dishes, because I've learned to appreciate the cuisine through good friends and would love to recreate some of my favorite dishes, learn some new ones, and eventually get the point where I can improvise with spices and other ingredients to come up with entirely new dishes and combinations.

Cook the Book: 'Urban Italian'

I recently went to a dinner party at which the host served an Acorn Squash Gnocchi with Parmesan Sage Beurre Blanc, and that immediately went to the top of my list of favorite unique Italian dishes -- I think it definitely qualifies as "Italian with a twist." Thanks for the giveaway - the book sounds fantastic!

I love my seafood (especially tuna, salmon, or red fish) blackened, Cajun style, dipped in tons of butter. Thanks for the giveaway - Eric Ripert's an amazing chef!

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Praise the Lard Gift Box

My favorite pork memory was my first taste of chorizo at an amazing restaurant in Cancun my friends and I discovered in the middle of nowhere during our spring break vacation a few years back. Our expectations for the food was very low, but with my first bite of my dish, which was dubbed "Pollo Loco" because it blended a chicken breast with chorizo, I immediately fell in love with the spicy, mouthwatering Mexican sausage. I liked the dish so much I recommended a friend of mine put it on the menu at his Mexican restaurant, which he did - so now I can enjoy it all the time!

I love to make fajitas as a quick fix dinner. I often make a large pot of rice at the beginning of the week to use for any meals throughout the week. So all I need to do to make the fajitas is to grill the meat and veggies, warm up the rice and tortillas, and I'm set!

Cook the Book: Serves One

Echoing a lot of the comments, my favorite "for-one" food would be a ham, egg, and cheese sandwich, which is versatile enough to be a filling meal for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a midnight snack.
