Groucho Marxism

I like Groucho Marx*, I like the art of the drink, and I like the science that goes into that art.
*Not Groucho's emotional distancy or womanizing, though.

  • Location: Somewhere, slyly, cracking wise wryly
  • Favorite foods: A good burg served with good toppings, good fries, and a better salad; my grandmother's pizza recipe; red peppers; grilled chicken; burritos with sous vide chicken, spice, tomato, garlic, onion, and avacado.
  • Last bite on earth: The hand of my doctor when they try and take my drink away (the resultant exertion being what finally boots my sorry rear through death's door).

Pumpkin Spice-Flavored Everything: 7 New Fall Products

I'm enthused to see that Bolthouse has something pumpkin-flavored out -- I'm a big fan of their fruit blends (which are tastier and cheaper per-ounce than the "Naked" brand equivalents), and while I haven't tried their prebottled coffees, I've been trying out other brands of them (in my investigation, Illy is more satisfying than Starbucks).

With regards to the Kahlua, I'm interested in that, too. I'd love to formulate something with it -- I've been trying variants on the White Russian with pumpkin pie spice*, as well as just adding it to my usual coffee drinks, so this seems right up my alley.

*As well as variants with whiskey, but I'm told by some that that's called a White American.

Hornitos Lime Shot

Andrew Strenio has a pretty positive review posted in Drinks, but he doesn't rate it as good as a drink made with fresh ingredients. However, you've got the bottle, so give it a try, and if you don't like it on its own, well, play around and see what kind of drinks you can make with it.

Paloma + Sangria? Need advice

When it comes to tequila drinks I like Palomas, and I've been wondering recently about mixing the recipe with that of sangria, but I don't know anything about what kind of (lower-to-mid-range) red wine might be ideal for it. I've got the other ingredients down, roughly, (Camarena reposado, for starters, plus the grapefruit soda, the lime juice, citrus fruits, and maybe cherries), but that's the hole in my harebrained summer scheme.

Advice? Any other tips are welcome, too.
