Hangover Helper: Waffle House Hash Browns

@ Rosewood : I can't share in the WH bounty, which saddens me. However, I can say that I have ordered grits from Denny's and I'm in MN.

I can say if I had to have a similar experience, I would head to Flameburger here. Also a 24/7 place, and the hashbrowns are griddled on display, if you sit at the counter. Plan on having your eyes pop at the display of potato-ey goodness brought before you.

My one rule for cuisine: "Can't argue against sucess." If the combination works, damn the rules. I haven't experimented with it much, but I have dabbled with this alchemy and lived to tell my tale. ;)

I second Jersey Joe. The sign of a great pizza is it's ability to span the edible temperature spectrum.

I also cast my lot with the iron skillet method. It's quick, easy, and I have the cast iron waiting for me.

What is your worst cooking disaster?

Easy: my home economics class so many years ago, we (my team) were to make meatball hoagies. Being a gang of five newly teenaged boys, we managed to screw it up epically. Instead of making the sauce and meatballs separately, we mixed all the ingredients together. Astonishingly, the mixture failed to separate on its own before burning/fusing itself to the pan. Threw out the mixture that hour. I would go on to redeem myself with later assignments, but that one will still remind me to be humble. ;)

@hungry sailor.. It could be done with a little tinkering. It just needs a recalibration of the cooling system to the new freezing point of the "pure syrup", which is a bit of a misnomer. What is "pure" for syrup?

Sesame-Crusted Oat Fritters with Chimichurri Dipping Sauce

@kimberlymac.. I've made my oatmeal "sweet" all this time, too. Though with this recipe, I may err towards "neutral" and sweeten it with add-ons in my bowl. I'm rather curious to give this fritter a try. :)
