What kind of Candy or Cookies do you make for Christmas

I specialize in candies moreso than cookies, but the following are my traditional must haves, or my family wouldn't feel like it's Chritmas time.

Fudge
White Chocolate Fudge w/ Gl. Cherries and Walnuts
Divinity
Almond Butter Crunch (tastes like Almond Roca)
BuckEyes (peanut butter balls halfway hand dipped in chocolate)
Rum Balls
Cream Cheese Mints
Glazed Walnuts or Pecans

Gumdrop Cookies
Russian Tea Cakes
Coconut Butter Balls*

Most of these recipes can be found in Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book. If you don't have one or want one of the recipes that isn't in there, just let me know and I'll try to post it for you.

* I substitute a Glaced Cherry for the Pecan half in the middle of this cookie.

Kellogg's Saves Mother's Cookies

When I heard that Archway and Mother's was bankrupt I was devastated, and wondering whatever would I do to replace my favorite store bought cookie that I eat every day with my mocha esspresso. Those frosted animal cookies are the perfect compliment to esspresso, IMO and quite frankly, I was in a bit of a panic about not being able to buy them any longer. I guess that I am addicted to them after eating them daily for so many years.

I live in a small town in the Last Frontier, and had managed to buy up all of the remaining bags left in the few grocery stores that we have here. I am on my last bag right now and stumbled upon this article when I googled Mother's Cookies. Imagine my delight at the news that Kellogg's was picking up the ball and we would be getting our beloved Circus Animal Cookies back. A million thanks Kellogg's!

Just found out Kellogg's are NOT planning on producing Mother's Gingerbread Man cookies for Holiday season this year. I am sad.

Nabisco also makes "Circus Animal" cookies. They were on the shelves a few months before the Kelloggs Mother's version. Last I looked, they're still there. They started an "old favorites" label, which includes versions of other Mothers cookies, as well (I think iced oatmeal and the English tea cookie). I'm not sure if they're any closer to the Mother's versions than the Kelloggs editions, but it's worth a try, if you're not happy with the Kelloggs. I haven't tried either, though I bought the Kelloggs English sandwich cookies tonight. I'd really like to see Iced Raisin brought back. Maybe people should write to Kelloggs about the favorites that are missing, because it sounds like they're still test-marketing and might bring out other kinds if the demand is there.

Say what you will, but I'll take what I can get when it comes to my Iced Oatmeal cookies! I'm sure my family, friends and I have put many a mothers employee through college through the years, and it truly is a shame that business didn't work out for them. That being said, I do think it's SMART of Kellogg's to recognize a good thing and pick up where Mothers left off.

Just had four Iced Oatmeal cookies and a glass of milk and it sure feels like old times again. Thank you Kelloggs!

I wouldn't go so far as "don't bother", but I agree these aren't the same. They are close...replicator close...but they are not the same. I'll give them some time to dial in the recipe.

I have lived in SF for 40 years and like so many others grew up with all the Mother's products. My family is addicted to the Taffy cookies, I can not live without Iced Oatmeal.

I still say THANK YOU for bringing back the product line, but I wish more of the Oakland employees could have been saved.

Don't bother!! I just bought and tried (5 minutes ago) my favorite Mothers
"Taffy Cookies" and my second favorite " Circus Animal Cookies", they aren't even CLOSE to the real Mothers Cookies. How sad, except that I hate Kelloggs, and now don't have to worry about buying Mothers from them. The cookies aren't terrible, just not as good as before!

What about Flaky Flicks! I can't even remember how to spell it, it's been so long since I had any. I would have my daughter ship them from California to me in NC because they didn't have Mother's Cookies out here. My daughter sent me a picture today of some of the cookies on the self in the store! Please bring back the Flaky Flicks......

One more comment & I'll shut up:
Some people say "Go for the gusto" but
I say "Go for the gaucho".
Yeh ... Yeh .... I know .... you saw that one coming.

I have not see any mention of Peanut Butter Gauchos. Since Mothers Peanut Butter Gauchos disappeared from the store shelves I found out that, other than Nutter Butter Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies, there are no other peanut butter sandwich cookies on the market. Once a year I have the opportunity to buy 2 cases of Girl Scout Do-Si-Do Peanut Butter Creme cookies. SO ...... PLEASE ..... PLEASE ..... PLEASE .... don't let the best peanut butter sandwich cookie on the market die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All you other "Mother's Peanut Butter Gauchos" cookies lovers get on board with me and lets make sure KELLOGGS brings those GAUCHOS with them. I did not see them on the list above, but I don't know who that list came from. Be good to us Kelloggs and please don't change the recipes

Mothers Taffy sandwich cookies are a staple food on all of our family trips. They are a tradition everywhere we go. Imagine my surprise when we were shopping for our next trip and.......bam! No Taffy. The trip just wasn't the same. This family looks forward to vacationing with Taffy sandwich cookies again.
Thanks Kelloges, we will be waiting (impatiently) for your gift

I am REALLY hoping that the english tea cookies is the mothers butters. Oh please let them be the same. I am completely devistated if they are not. I have been having people ship them to me by the case each year for my birthday since they are no where to be found in Florida. Today, instead of my cookies to go with my birthday coffee, I received the news that I will never again taste those sweet, savory morsels. If not getting older is not enough. I shall weep and pray to the cookie God's that Mother's Butters will be once again in my pantry.

I agree with Pizzaman.
Nobody makes Iced Oatmeal like Mother's.
I cleaned out all the stores around. Now I can breath easy again!

Hopefully Kellog's won't mess with the recipe - I haven't met an MBA yet who could bake!
