I'd guess that it lets all that sugar you just pressed into the dough "melt" into the butter in the puff pastry without it getting greasy. Maybe maybe?

7-Layer Dip Showdown

Thank goodness for this. I realized last night when I added cocoa powder, vanilla extract, saigon cinnamon, crushed walnuts, and SUGAR to my dinky little 3oz cup of SUGARFREE pudding that I can't let anything simple and crappy just be simple and crappy. I'm in college so I try to satisfy my angry foodie taste buds while maintaining the roof over my head and nonstop schedule. The result? Finding myself stooped over simple and crappy things and forcing joy into them at gunpoint. Darker chocolate into my pudding cup...truffle salt and basil on my delivery pizza...I've even been known to do a drive-by microplane of fresh garlic and parmesan into my roommate's cooking pan of kraft mac and cheese when they turn their back on it's blandness for a second. I can't help myself. Its sick. And wrong. And delicious.

Black truffle ravioli with shaved truffles on top...I close my eyes every time I think of the flavors and still say this was my favorite dish I've ever had. Closest I've come since then is a dish of truffle salt that my friend keeps in his kitchen. Whenever I go over I'm constantly picking it up to smell!

no no no no this is not just OK pie!! I had this after caesar salad, pan fried snapper, fries, and wine and it was one of my favorite parts. The vanilla ice cream that came on top of it was perfect.

What is everyone making for valentines day?

I've got a black forest cake in mind, and a little tasting of (supposed) aphrodisiacs: Spiced dark chocolate truffles, raspberry-rose truffles, dark chocolate brownies with fleur-de-sel caramel, soft vanilla bean cookies with a port wine glaze, and chocolate covered strawberries injected with champagne gelée. Corny? Sure. As delicious as it all sounds in my mind? Time will tell!
