Do You Have a Favorite Mustard?

I agree with all those praising Nance's Sharp & Creamy mustard. I swear I could eat it with a spoon. Once a devoted ketchup user with french fries, I now dip them in Nance's....if that's not love, I don't know what is.

Foodie vs. (Vegan) Foodie: Let's Stop Dropping Anvils Already

I've been a vegetarian for two years, and I've had a lot of support from friends and family. I love SE, and read almost all of the posts, even the meat-centric ones! I just like learning about food.

The one thing I want to add to this debate is that I am *so* tired of seeing comments like "Bacon is LIFE" and the aforementioned "People Eating Tasty Animals" in threads. Not because I have a problem with someone for whom bacon IS their life (although you might want to get out more), but because they are incredibly condescending and make a joke out of a lifestyle choice that most people put a lot of thought and care into.

We're not coming with pitchforks to steal your pork products. Relax.

Popcorn: Do You Err on the Side of Unpopped or Burnt?

Does anyone else really like STALE popcorn? When it's kind of chewy? I will save half of my popcorn from the movie theater and eat it again in 2 days or so...yum! Maybe it reminds me of eating those giant 3-flavor tins of popcorn my family would sometimes get at Christmas...and wouldn't finish until well into the New Year! Haha, please don't judge.

The 'Veggie Reeltor,' a Broker for Vegetarians in the Bay Area

I'm a vegetarian, and I think the way he is promoting himself is silly. BUT I can see the advantage of having someone who really knows veggie friendly neighborhoods as my realtor, if that was something I was very concerned about.

Study finds: Organic food is no healthier than conventional

For me, I find it refreshing when I buy organic lettuce from the farmer's market and there's actually DIRT on it! I don't know, it is probably just in my head, but I do get sense of freshness from organic produce that I don't from conventional. I also started only buying organic bananas after my mother heard that the pesticides they use on banana crops were killing birds in surrounding areas. I agree with the comments that say this study totally ignores the environmental effects of farming with pesticides, it's too bad.

Tofu (For Carnivores...) ?

I agree with those who press and then fry the tofu (I do mine in a non-stick skillet with a tiny bit of oil). I also second the person who suggested seitan. I admit, I haven't eaten real meat in quite some time, but the first time I tried seitan (in a stir-fry), I had to do a double-take (double-taste?) to make sure someone hadn't slipped me a piece of chicken!

Foie Gras Jelly Doughnut at Le Pigeon, Portland, Oregon

I'm all for food experimentation but please don't sully the delicious, humble doughnut by pairing it with the grossness that is foie gras! You've gone too far! In my very biased vegetarian opinion, of course :).

Cook the Book: 'Mrs. Rowe's Little Book of Southern Pies'

The first time I tackled my mom's famous homemade molasses bread recipe, I turned the dough out onto the table to knead waaaaay too early. Let's just say it's hard to knead something that's practically a liquid.

Favorite frozen entrees?

I have to defend the Trader Joe's Asian dishes! One of my lazy night meals is to fry up some tofu really quick and then serve it with some of their frozen Thai green beans. It's essentially just green beans and sauce, but the sauce is delicious and it cooks in no time. I tried to replicate it from scratch but couldn't get the flavor right.

My SO also likes the Thai lemongrass chicken sticks and the frozen shumai, and the frozen edamame is always a good deal; cheap, easy, and filling.

I can't speak for any of their Indian dishes, has anyone tried them? I've been tempted but haven't picked one up yet, if they're awful I want to know!
