Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
I'd have to say music while cooking is a must. Particularly if it's on the weekend. 60's Bob Dylan or Sam and Dave work great. The blues is always good for Bar-Be-Que. For some reason if I'm drinking while I'm cooking Tom Waits seems to find its way through the speakers.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
Now that's a dream -- cooking and NPR!
My music tends to go with my mood, not the food.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
I usually sing to myself, as I have such a fabulous voice (note: extreme sarcasm here)
The plus is everyone leaves me alone to escape from the horrible noise and I can cook to my hearts content.
But usually I just have to tv on to a current affairs program, so I can cook and abuse politicians at the same time ^^
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
When I'm making Sunday brunch, it's Bill Withers for sure. Cocktails for Happy Hour - Earth Wind and Fire, Dinner with the Roomies - Jurassic 5 or Indigo Girls, something we can sing to.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
I'm on a "going back to my childhood" kick and since there was no music from my childhood (Vaughn Monroe, the Andrews Sisters...yucko), I listen to an assortment of early rock, or early heavy metal..........but if I am cooking a big ol' pot of gumbo, it has to be something out of my Mark Savoy collection.....jumpin' up and down, choppin' music for sure.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
Paris 1919 is a great cooking or non-cooking record!
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
I tend to listen to whatever is going around in my head at the time. Lately it's been John Cale's record Paris 1919.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
I listen to music most of the time...but when I am cooking I love to listen to NPR.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
I love this question - what isn't more fun with great music in the background? Since it is summer I've been listening to fun summer music like Lily Allen and the Beach Boys while I cook - or make cold food, rather.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
Johnny Cash, Indigo Girls, Roger Waters, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan are usually making the rounds on the kitchen stereo.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
I almost always have music on in the kitchen, most usually jazz.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
When I was catering, it was wehat ever the chef wanted and we really had no voice in the matter. When I'm cooking, it's what ever I want. If I'm cooking abig meal that's going to take hours, some dep house and euro-techno keeps me moving. If I'm doing tiny delicate work, moody classical is the key. If I'm coming home from a crazy day, some moody bluesy slow down music is good to braise by. If I'm ma,king homey comfort foods, some good country juke joint music keeps me steping around the kitchen.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
Like others here, I sometimes like the music to go with the cuisine. Some are easier than others. If it's Italian, usually the Big Night soundtrack or opera. Last Saturday night was Thai food so that one had me stumped. In those cases, the Buddha Bar CDs never fail!
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
just put my whole library on shuffle. the type of music isn't as important to me as having something happening in the background.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
Pretty much whatever I'm listening to in general, though for baking I prefer something classical. Lately that's been lots of Vaughn Williams, a local Celtic music group, Beethoven string quartets, et cetera.
Though I have to say, for washing dishes no one is better than Rufus Wainwright.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
One week ago, I would've had a different answer but now (except for NPR's evening news) it's the blissfully returned CBS-FM!
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
New Order or U2.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
Either a good 70's am mix on the iPod, or Ottmar Liebert. Then again, I find Ottmar Liebert appropriate for almost anything.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
Actually, having said that, for baking I prefer classical.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
Cuban music, regardless of the cuisine.
Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
Broadway musicals.
