Meat Lite: Thai Cabbage Salad with Chicken

I made this the other day, and it was fantastic! I love cabbage salads, but this one was new and different with a great Thai flavor.

I eat a ton of raw vegetables and fruit when I'm alone (I just can't stop snacking on them!)

This book sounds great! Bread is by far my favorite, and I just made my first gluten-free loaf last week.

Cook the Book: '100 Best Vegetarian Recipes'

I love stuffed veggies (peppers, eggplants, mushrooms, tomatoes, etc.) with quinoa, beans, and more veggies. It doesn't get any better than that!

Cook the Book: 'L.A.'s Original Farmers Market Cookbook'

My favorite vendor happens to also be my CSA (Titus Farms), and they're extremely friendly and have tons of amazing produce all summer. I love that they're always excited to have a nice chat about the farm or ideas about what to do with their veggies.

How do YOU make a tomato sandwich?

Two slices of homemade whole wheat bread, yellow mustard, several thick slices of homegrown tomato (sometimes multiple layers if I'm up for making a mess), and salt and pepper. I used mayo instead of mustard for years, but I've come to appreciate the combination of the acid in the mustard and the subtle sweetness of the tomato.

When tomatoes are in season, I can (and usually do) eat several tomato sandwiches a day. I can't think of a better summer lunch :)

Serious Heat: Where Do You Buy Your Spices?

I love the Dekalb Farmers Market, and that's where most of my spices are from. I moved to Michigan (from Atlanta) four years ago, but I make sure to leave plenty of space in my bag for spices whenever I visit friends and family in Atlanta. Everything is so cheap (but a very good quality) that I can't resist!

Cook the Book: 'Real Cajun'

That sounds like a fabulous book!

My family would drive to the coast to get live crabs to bring back home, and then I would play with them in the yard right before my dad boiled them. Then we would have a huge crab feast, and my hands would be completely torn up by the end of the night. It was completely worth it, though.

He started my addiction to steel-cut oats. I've been eating oatmeal with some sort of addition (either savory or sweet) just about every morning since he talked about his soy sauce and scallion oatmeal.

I LOVE veggie lasagna. I might add a little bit of meat, but the veggies are always the star. Yummm :)
