Obama and Baskin Robbins: Really the Same Thing?
I would definitely for ice cream to be my president. Hot fudge could be VP and whipped cream speaker of the house.

May I suggest you check out some of our Vietnamese offerings? My favorite is Pho 79 on Nicolete - certainly not a suit-and-tie sort of place, but an interesting slice of Minneapolis life. That whole stretch is booming with asian food markets and restaurants. I also second French Meadow as far as breakfast is concerned - they have good coffee, actual honest-to-goodness good coffee - which seals the deal as far as I'm concerned.
Dark chocolate - although milk if I'm feeling wimpy
Wait... have I been missing something here - isn't it just the beginning of September? Why are we talking about holiday episodes now? Seems a tad premature. At least wait until the Halloween costumes are safely stowed away.
Yes! I love ice cream to almost mythical proportions - I cannot possibly imagine anyone eating ice cream without being dreadfully happy; if I'm sad, I will get my friends to bring me a pint and then everything's ok.
I really appreciate these reviews of the latest TopChef. I got addicted to the show over a long holiday and now that I don't have access to cable TV, this blog is really the only Top Chef fix I get. So - thanks!
Yeah, I will - what - be the twentieth or thirtieth person to add more cheese. As a young kid I used to beg my mom to add an extra packet of cheese sauce - you know, from another box of mac & cheese - and if you've ever had this, you will know it is the most sodium-enriched thing on earth. I usually just scavenge my fridge for whatever cheese I can find.
A friend of mine does something a bit different. He adds - white wine. Don't know if I exactly like it or not, but hey. It's something to try.
The best peaches I ever ate - or can remember ever eating - were from Morton's orchards in Colorado. And this happened only this Sunday, so my memory is super-fresh. The were incredibly consistent - there was barely a single bite that was especially bitter - and were, at their best, sweet, smooth, and complicated. The consistancy is a really important point. Most peaches that I get from the store, even when they're good, have patches in them that just taste like peach-flavored water, or worse. These peaches were good through and through.
I am, by the way, trying to eat 100 peaches this summer. Check out my progress at 100peaches.blogspot.com. You can read about my experience eating Morton's peaches here.
The atmosphere is fantastic at Nye's -- the food? Um, not so much.
112 Eatery is a great place to take someone for dinner; it's easily my favorite place in Minneapolis.
If Al's and Hell's Kitchen are out, go to Key's, I guess, although if you're in town on the weekend and you can wait until 10 for breakfast, Whitey's is a solid choice.
That's true about Nicollett. From the convention center on south along Nicollet avenue there's a bunch of great spots. The city is marketing it as "Eat Street," but it's not bunk.
Dark, Dark, Dark...it's richer & it's good for you...what more could you want?
I prefer dark chocolate. It has more flavor and makes me feel like I am doing something good for my body as well because of the antioxidants! :)
Milk chocolate that melts as soon as it touches the tongue
Milk chocolate is sooooooooooooooo creamy!
