Oh, man, I miss my mom's light, yummy hamentashen, doled out in festive gift tins each year to me and my brothers... The holiday begins tonight, thursday March 20th; if you want a sample of the literal "Megillah" with Mordechai, Esther, Ahasuerus, and the evil inspiration for the sweet treat, Haman, as well as the whole megillah of varieties of hamentashen, stop by a local synagogue, temple, or a variety of parties and locations where a lot of people in very silly costumes will be making a lot of noise and celebrating with (baked and other) food and drink. A freiliche (happy) Purim!

This may be a bit late but I made some hamantaschen for purim. Here they are!

My friends and I made SAVORY hamantaschen this year - I know, we're rebels. We took the sugar out of the dough and added dried rosemary, then we stuffed them with a onion, mushroom, and cheese mixture. They were amazing.

Here's the recipe:

mmm... hamentaschen. I look forward to eating many over the next two days. The poppyseed and prune ones are my favourite.
Everyone should go to a purim party tonight, even if they're not Jewish. Was it mentioned that it's a holiday on which the consumption of alcohol is encouraged?
