My rabbit looked like the one in the lower left hand side. Those are called Dutch rabbits. To this day I can't eat rabbit. I was a little nervous about reading this topic till I found out the bunnies aren't on the menu.

Robyn can I tell you how WIN you are for posting this... I need to book a ticket to Japan right this very moment.

@annien - guess they'll never have to buy new bunnies!

Incredibly cute, but when one brings one's own rabbbit to socialize with other rabbits, what does one do if the result is more rabbits? Or does the cafe supply rabbit contraception?
Because the fact is, they breed like rabbits.

No cat shaped food, but we visited a "cat cafe" on our most recent trip to Japan : http://accidentalepicurean.com/2009/07/neko-jalala-cat-cafe-akihabara-tokyo/

Imagine if you could market the egg in an egg.
For those that are cash strapped. The new egg squared. By a dozen get a dozen.
Of course it would make for an interesting hard boiled egg.

omg the little girl who is chasing after the bunnies is so cute lol

Wow. Now I was expecting an abnormal amount of yolks. Double wouldn't be unusual enough so I was thinking 3.
About 1/3 of the eggs my chickens have been laying have been double yolked but so far none have been double eggs. Now I'm sort of worrying about the freakishly big one I hard boiled last night for my batch of pickled eggs.

"The big egg is a lot bigger."
Hahaha. I agree, enblithe. The deadpan tone really makes the video.

Kind of crazy... you are right, above though... very similar to the double yolk thing.

The man sure sports a lot of bling for cracking eggs.

Brilliant. I love the little kid voice in the background. "Weird!!!" And the wife's reaction.. "oh, that poor bird"... priceless.

@gastronomeg: me too. of course a woman would understand the trauma of giving birth to something that large!
Video: Cracking Open a Big Egg
it cracks me up that the woman says, "oh, that poor chicken."
that was my thought exactly.

So i watched this at work without the volume on.... so i dont know if he offers an explanation. While unusual, this isn't some freak-of-nature sort of thing.
Similar to the explanation for the double-yolked eggs, this egg-within-an-egg generally happens with first-time layers, or perhaps the first egg of the laying season. When an egg gets made the yolk, then white are formed and then it moves to the shell gland to get a membrane and shell. Eggs are laid on average, once a day. At the first egg-laying season, the hormones and circadian rhythm (biological "clock" that registers day and night) isn't yet perfectly timed.
This means, the first egg might still be in the shell gland when a second yolk-and-white enter. So... the body produces a single shell that surrounds both of them.
These eggs dont make it into the market for the general public.
