i'm from singapore and green bean casserole is a dish i've never heard of in my life! is it just for thanksgiving? has it always been made with soy sauce? sounds asian!

i love wendy's chilli! it's the only place that serves chilli here in singapore um... i think??? there aren't many places that do this nor do the supermarkets stock canned versions. LOVE IT.

oh gosh. the kaya + banana bread idea is fantastic.

i remember all my salads in france. boy, were they BIG, BIG, BIG SALADS.

one of them came with a whole slice of QUICHE.

another had a palm-sized pâté de foie gras.

good thing there was lots of walking in between.

any streetside cafe would sell ramen (good stock, nice servings of cabbage salad, slices of chashu, corn, great springy noodles) for 700-1000yen per person. lots of regional ramen to try. that's real japanese everyman food. maybe udon, tsukemen, soba? oodles of noodles!! just pay at the machine up front and hand your ticket stub over to a server.

how about yoshinoya? it's a japanese fastfood chain selling beef bowls for ~1000yen/person.

plus, you have leftover yen for a cold beer to go along with dinner or dessert at mr donut! :)
