Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Filet Mignon Roast from Pat LaFrieda Meats

any steak my hubby cooks is delicious.. but we mostly go for ribeyes around here!

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Praise the Lard Gift Box

My fondest pork memory is of the very first time my husband cooked pork chops for dinner. I grew up with a mother who baked them in the oven and they were always dried out, rock hard, and gross. I swore I'd NEVER like pork chops but when hubby pan fried one and put it on my plate all juicy I could hear the angels sing!

Hot Dog of the Week: Hot-Chee Dog from Hamilton Restaurant in Carlisle, PA

Also a Dickinson grad who loves these! In fact, my dad graduated from Dickinson in 1969 and he ate them then- we both love going back to visit and always stop for a hot-chee dog or two!

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: La Quercia

I love eating it any way it comes! Especially around cantaloupe though.. And this year we're wrapping our beef wellington in it before wrapping it in pastry, a la Tyler Florence....

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Truffle Lovers Pasta

I've had truffle oil drizzled on white pizza before I think- but would love to try actual truffles some time!

Cook the Book: Barefoot Contessa, 'How Easy Is That?'

We love to do crepes for dinner- with various toppings they look fancier than they are- people always think it took us forever to make them!

Cook the Book: 'Farm to Fork'

Recently it's tomatoes. But my fondest "farm fresh" memories are when we were little and went to our Uncle Bob's orchard every fall- he'd pull the hay wagon right up under the apple trees and we'd eat as many as we could!

Cook the Book: 'Fiesta at Rick's'

I'd go with Rick Bayless.. Or Tyler Florence- he seems like he'd be so nice...

Cook the Book: 'The Book of Tapas'

anything with an anchovy on it (first thing that comes to mind is a fab. piece of brushcetta I had in Italy- roasty toasty bread, swiped with garlic, with a big fat anchovy on top and a drizzle of oil. Yum!)

Cook the Book: 'Pig: King of the Southern Table'

2 faves- the ribs my hubby does in the smoker- takes all day but sooo worth it, and a pork roll sandwich - pork roll fried in a pan, put on a potato roll and topped with yellow american cheese- brings back my childhood!

Mother's Day Giveaway: Peanut Butter & Co. Chocolate Bonbons

My mom is not known for her cooking. Her best meal though, that we all now make ourselves in our own kitchens, is a version of chicken fajitas with a soy-sauced based sauce. Yum!

Cook the Book: 'Bromberg Bros. Blue Ribbon Cookbook'

I don't think any restaurants around here other than McDonald's serve food past ten... I'm more of a late night drinker than a late night eater, anyway!

Grilling: The Gas vs. Charcoal Debate

I'm not the griller in the house but my hubby is a charcoal guy too- and a wood smoker guy. He'd been talking about picking up a small gas grill though last summer for those nights when we get home from work late but still want to grill something quickly. I found a fantastic combo grill (that you can even add a smoker box to the side of) at Lowes- it's giant at almost 6 feet long but has one side for gas, and one for charcoal. Best grill ever as we can take our time with charcoal on the weekends but still throw a few burgers on the gas grill for a quick weeknight dinner...

Cook the Book: 'Mad Hungry'

nachos. oh and bacon wrapped kielbasa with brown sugar sprinkled on top and baked in the oven. Sooooo bad for you but sooo yummy and easy!

Cook the Book: Make it Fast, Cook it Slow

toss up between the Keurig and the toaster oven. Crockpot is up there too!
