Best Ice Cream in America's Best Ice Cream Town?

You are all a bunch of snobs. The Banana Creme Frappucino at Starbucks is totally tops. I'm not sure if they have Starbucks where you live (they only have a few locations here at 9th an Broadway - 3 actually) but I do recommend that you try it out.

8 thumbs up.

Nice Philadelphia Girl Seeks Decent Hoagie In NYC

Damn right!

There are a few good places for good hoagies in NYC. Mostly in Little Italy. There's a place on the corner -- I forget where, but I know how to get there.

Hoagie road trip?

Craft, New York

I've only been to the Craft in Las Vegas at the MGM. It's not bad, but it seems like the wait staff are nicer in Vegas... but I've already broken the rules: What happens in Vegas...

Of course Steve's is a pale shadow--it was sold many years ago, and Steve Herrell moved his operation to Northampton, MA, where he's been beloved for many years. Moving back in on Boston is only right.

I live in LA and still dream of Christina's...

Christina's all the way!

Come to the burbs, children. We have Kimballs, and Bedford Farms, Sullivans and Dairy Joy! You can work your way from one to the next on a tour that will make your eyes and your belly bulge out. But I have to say, Christina's rice pudding ice cream is one of my all time favorites. Once I can find a place to park my car.

How To Cook Pig Tails

My dad used to put pig's tails in the sauce on Sunday....he & I were the only ones who would eat them. Haven't had them in years, but I do remember they were good!

In Los Angeles (actually Alhambra) I vote for Fosselman's Ice Cream.

Local, family owned and award winning, they make not too sweet ice cream in amazing flavors. They do the classic - my dad says they have the best rum raisin he's ever had. And they do seasonal, and local. They have amazing macapuno ice cream, summer plum sorbet if you can catch it and their fresh peach sings. With all that my husband still starts with a scoop of their vanilla - it's just that good.

Lizzy's in Waltham. I hear rumors they're opening a second location in Harvard Square, but haven't seen anything confirmed.

Diesel Sluggo from Tosci's.

Hot fudge from Herrell's.

Christina's for everything else.

I love Christina's but has anyone tried Cabot's in Newton, MA? It is so OLD SCHOOL! It has the feel of a 50's diner with great ice cream served in stemed glasses on silver plates. It is a true classic!

From Serious Eats

It is indeed a classic. I'm sure Christina's burnt sugar is a takeoff on it. Toscanini's is actually selling it, along with a few other flavors in local markets, including Formaggio Kitchen, and I believe Whole Foods as well.

PDC, have you tried Toscanini's Burnt Caramel Ice Cream?

Craft, New York

Tom is also opening several more 'wichcrafts in Manhattan. I'm crazy about the toasted gruyere and caramelized onions on rye, but I think he may be overextending himself.

A foodie friend from London visited Craftsteak in Vegas recently and was not happy: indifferent food, very pricey.

the best place to get an Italian hero, hoagie, submarine, torpedo or whatever you want to call it is at...Faicco's Pork Store on Bleecker St. They'll make you what ever you want. Delish!

Craft, New York

I went to Craftsteak last night. Colicchio is very ambitious. The steak was terrific, and it's the only steakhouse I know of in NY where you can get steak that's been dry-aged up to sixty days. I had an amazing piece of Kobe beef last night.

Craft, New York

You know, I just heard there's a Vegas location. It kind of makes me less interested in them. I'm mean, I like ambition, but Craft is actually starting to *feel* ambitious.
