Poll: Do You Prefer Fresh Mozzarella or Regular Mozzarella on Your Pizza?
I understand low-moisture mozz, which is what most slice joints use and is available in stores/supermarkets. But I'm a little less certain of the difference between `fresh' mozz wrapped in plastic, about the size of a tennis ball or baseball, and really `fresh' mozz, often homemade, swimming in water in a plastic container. If you make your own pizza, the `fresh' in plastic yields a nice finish while the homemade `fresh' gives you a Jackson Pollock splat.
My vote is for baseball-size, plastic-wrapped `fresh.'

A short walk from Pete's in Columbia Heights. May be the best of the lot. Thanks for the rec on Mia's; been meaning to try it.
Las Vegas: Grimaldi's Coal Brick Oven Pizza
Went to Grimaldi's in Vegas this past week. Really impressive pizza, an oasis in the wilderness for sure. Manager on duty was from Staten Island. Pizza connoisseurs who find themselves in LV should check this place out.

Went here day before Thanksgiving. Maybe I'm a little burnt out on Neapolitan 00 (is that a pun?) but I found this pizza . . . curiously refreshing. It definitely is closer to bar pizza than traditional NY slicejoint pie; well worth a trip, destination or detour. Service was just fine too, but then they weren't too crowded. All we are saying is give this pizza a chance!
