I had Micheal Richard's Central burger the other day, and I must say, it was worth the $18.
Also, I asked for mayo for my fries, and they brought over their house made stuff, and the waiter went on and on about how good it was.
He was right.
$18 burgers are a once every other month treat, but people should definitely indulge.
Also, why would I go all the way over to the West End of DC for a burger???

Besides my own barbecue, the best BBQ in DC is Capital Q for you Texans, and Hogs on the Hill for you everyone else.

Fresh Food on TV
Jose Andres has a new show on PBS called "Jose Andres Made in Spain" which is part travelouge, part cooking show.
It's pretty neat (though the concept of him flying back and forth between here and Spain gets old quick). The cooking is amazing (if you've evr been to Jaleo, you know what I mean) and the places he visits in Spain make you want to pack up and move there, if just for the food.
It's airs on Saturdays on WETA here in DC, but as always, times and channels may vary.

Amen to that, PerkyMac!

I am sorry. I am not paying $18 for a hamburger. $10 is the limit.

I've had both Micheal Richard's Central burger and West End Bistro's burger. I absolutely vote for West End Bistro's burger. I thought their meat was very juicy and simple in a good way. Really high-quality of meat. Plus, their bun has a taste like brioche. I could just eat the bun itself. I was actually very dissapointed by Central's burger. I didn't like the seasoning at all. The bun was very bland, so I even couldn't finish the half of the burger.
I might be one of the very few to prefer Westend's burger. I hope Westened won't be as crowded as it is now.

Let's see......how many restaurant meals have I had that cost at least $14 and didn't even taste good? I'll take a great hamburger over a rubbery piece of _____ (fill in the blank) any day.

Big Fatty's BBQ in Burlington, VT is pretty good! (Especially for these parts.) And when I head from VT to Boston, a stop at City Flame in Manchester, NH is a requirement.

I see a lot of votes for Dinosaur BBQ. I've been to the one here in Rochester and the original in Syracuse and I have to say I prefer Famous Dave's

I remember, early in high school, eating at a barbecue joint in Kansas City that was amazing. Upon describing the place to people who weren't there with me, I've been told it was Arthur Bryants. Since I don't know exactly where I was in Kansas City, I'll say Jim's Rib Haven in western Illinois.
