Question of the Day: What's one of your tried-and-true kitchen shortcuts?

two come to mind immediately...one would be the bowl I use as a trash bowl so as not to constantly opening the cabinet for depositing in wastebasket - second would be the electric kettle.

Trader Joes sells frozen cubes of parsley, garlic, basil and cilantro. These are a HUGE time saver and come in very handy when you don't have the fresh stuff available.

Frozen spinach. (Bird's Eye brand; in a block.) About $1.10 per, and it's so easy to microwave the water out of it and then throw the spinach into whatever delectable recipe I'm working on.

I have an oven that is also a microwave. I can use the oven by itself, as well as the microwave, but I can also use them both at the same time!
I just love this appliance! Preparing food in it does not take as long as it would in just an oven, and just a microwave could never do what this can do either.
