Barista in the Wild, Part 2: Roasting to Perfection

If you are NJ coffee drinker you have to check out Rojos Roastery in Lambertville. I would rank his beans up nearly as good as Blue Bottle in San Francisco and the guy in charge of it all is so kind and will talk with you forever about his roasting process, which is usually happening in front of you as you are enjoying his coffee.

Serious Cheese: Goat Cheese as a Marker of Gentrification

kudos to the Mickey D's-O-Meter. I think sometimes the MSM is just so out of touch with the reality of people's food tastes. Brings me back to the '08 campaign trail when they still brought up someone as being a latte sipping elite. Here in Washington you can drive out to the most podunk town and still find someone in a beatup brokedown pickup ordering a skinny latte that tastes better than most of the coffee in Jersey.

a note on the ginger ale thing. we make some really great ginger ale just by slicing ginger and adding that to the pot when we make simple syrup then putting a shot of that in some seltzer. super easy and refreshing. a lot easier than that whole ginger juice thing they mention in the article. you can even use the cooked ginger for candied ginger type treats.
also... try using lavender in the simple syrup making process.. that is a super refreshing summer soda

Abma's Farm Market & Nursery in Wyckoff, New Jersey

Great post! Having grown up in Wyckoff I have really fond memories of Abma's farm. Funny thing is that New Jersey has lots of great little farms, although no one in my current residence of Seattle believes me when I tell them this.

Help Me Perfect My Stovetop Espresso Maker Coffee

@ onepercent99: I was informed by the wonderful roaster at Roja's Roastery in Lambertville, NJ that not enough pressure builds up in the Moka Pot to produce crema, but I think the coffee tastes amazing anyway!
Also, don't scrub your pot clean because that will loosen the aluminum oxide that might be forming and there have been links to Alzheimer's. Bialetti actually just started making a stainless steel one i hear...
