i cant stand robin. she should have been sent home along time ago. i mean her dish had no pork taste they said..atleast you could get the essence of pork from ash's dish i think robins there for drama. eli and mike may be rude but hey everyone in the house is annoyed with her. she's there for one reason 'sympathy card"
Watch It with Us: 'Top Chef Las Vegas,' Ep. 6
the quickfire was lame, the salad and dessert shouldnt have won. and im sorry but the comment about her using cancer to her advantage was justified by her winning. just my opinion, and deconstructing food is one of my favorite things, i'm tired of the classics (although wonderful) its a new generation lets renovate them any way we can!
Should Fast Food Chains Give Kids Toys?
well hell they need something to blame things on if not music, video games or movies. its just like the whole cigarette deal and the logos.

Van Halen Tour Rider: Absolutely No Brown M&Ms
they had jello for dessert after dinner. lol
Cook the Book: Mock Ceviche
its just not right to cook it..a simple lime/lemon and a touch of salt marinade leaves it tender enough.just make sure to slice in smaller portions so it does actually tenderize.
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Two Peter Luger Steaks
i'd say a ribeye or a porterhouse..depends on my mood. for a nice bbq a porter for a nice sit down a ribeye.

I feel another "cook for a difficult, spoiled celebrity with no sense of reality" episode coming on....

Poor Bryan V and Ashley don't get their photos in the collage above? That's a little mean.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
A Hole in One!!!! My grandfather used to make these for me when I was a very little girl, visiting him in Lancaster, PA. He was not a golfer. He was first-generation American of Swedish descent, who had grown up in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I'm also getting annoyed by the increasing emphasis on drama (which I too suspect is largely created by editing) over food- with this few contestants, we should see what everyone has prepared.

My two cents...I have not been as into the show this year because it seems to have taken such a nasty soap opera-ish turn...this started last year with the Josea/Leah thing. I can't stand for people to be down right mean and hurtful, whether the person deserves it or not. I can't imagine being Robyn and watching this now to hear the contestants talking about her behind her back. What horrible rotten people. She is still there and there's no one to blame for that but the judges. Anyway that being said, the only contestant I am rooting for is Kevin, he's the most consistent so far and he looks like Yukon Cornelius. LOL.

@Chew: Mike V needs to chill about this whole "I'm the best chef in this season" attitude. It was almost like Stefan last year, except Stefan was winning challenge after challenge. Mike V even looks down on his own brother!
I really feel the top 2 would be Kevin and Brian. But who knows! I never thought Josea had any chance of winning last season!

I was pretty turned off by Eli and Mike V's immaturity in this episode too. I was still mad at Eli for aiding in Ashley's elimination last week but he certainly didn't help this week. It seems like the only level headed guys in the group are Kevin and Bryan.
Anyway, immaturity aside, I agree that the top 4 contestants of the whole season were the top 4 this week. Even though I don't eat pork, all of their dishes looked and sounded good. Though did anyone think Bryan's dish looked exactly like his steak dish from the camping episode?
Overall, I hope Kevin, Jen or Bryan win. Mike V needs to chill out about why he is better than his brother.

I know Robin personally, not as well as I know her mother, for whom this must be painful to watch. (It's painful for me.) All reality shows are about casting and editing. Robin was cast as the bothersome old lady, and lately edited as the woman you love to hate. This whole drama would play differently if the actors were all in their forties and enjoyed similar levels of maturity.

@ LetThem - Deconstruction is in many ways about matching flavors and tweaking presentation. Fish and chips would have been easy.
Laurine could have redone the dish as fish croquettes with a creamy sauce on the inside and a crispy potato crust. Maybe do it as a "fish and chip tapas" with a miniature fried Mars bar and a fresh pea salad or green pea soup on the side (instead of the traditional mushy peas). Another option would have been a potato chip napoleon done with very large potato slices, layered with a grilled fish and a micro green salad with a swirl of a caper "tartar sauce" on the side.
Really, there were a number of possibilities. As Ashley's success showed, you do not need to go high-tech on deconstruction if you cook the food well and get the flavors correct.
Watch It with Us: 'Top Chef Las Vegas,' Ep. 6
How the F do you deconstruct fish n' chips?!? Its two ingredients! (3 if you use malt vinegar on your chips) OK and breading. But still! I thought that was a bit unfair.
Any ideas?

I'm mostly glad that Ashley is starting to come into her own. I had a feeling she'd be one of the top prospects if she lasted awhile.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
Some great names here - I love Egyptian Eyes especially! But wow: over 200 comments, and apparently no one else calls them "top hats". (And yes, I always thought my mother invented them, too. :) )
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
My hubby made these for me for me all the time when we were in college - we call them Eggs in a Basket.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
@Ed Levine - My mom called them "Egyptian eggs" as well. I think me, you and Embackus's friend were the only one. It seems to be the least known name for them.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
Eggy in a basket, from V for Vendetta.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
lighthouses still love 'em
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
Everyone knows it's called a "bunny egg". My grandmother invented it.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
Growing up Dad called it a Bulls Eye (from Rhode Island). We always loved when Dad had to make breakfast! He cut the hole with a shot glass so the hole was just big enough for the yolk part and the rest of the egg ran over the bread so you had to flip it and cook that side too! Just don't over cook it and it won't be dry. The hardest part was buttering both sides of the bread. I get around that now by using a brush and softened butter.
Should Fast Food Chains Give Kids Toys?
I remember growing up and being really happy to sometimes get a toy from my fast food meal. I really miss those Mario-themed toys from McDonald's! So I can tell from personal experience that the toys did made me want to go. And we'd go once in a while.
To state that it is the parents' responsibility to choose where to eat is too obvious considering the SE audience. There are families out there that just don't have the time/privilege/knowledge/understanding to fend for themselves. I'd like to draw a comparison with the recent credit crunch where creditors were lending money to people who normally shouldn't be able to get one. Some things may be common sense to some, but not to others.
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
My mom always called this "egg in a hat" - I guess when you put the cut-out circle back on top of the hole in the toast, without pushing it all the way in, it looks a little like a hat...
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
My mama has been making this as long as I can remember. It's called the One Eyed Sailor Egg in our house...
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
Never saw them till I married my ex when he used to fix them for our kids. He called them Toad in the Hole.
