Good food in Destin Florida
Heading to Destin Florida with my family for spring break. Any good restaurant recommendations? We will be taking I 65 south from Michigan, so also looking for some great restaurants along the way. No chains please!
Put it in a food processor and process for a few seconds, turns out nice and creamy!
Dip them in melted chocolate with a little peppermint oil added. They taste just like Girl scout thin mints!!
Slice zucchini lengthwise into thin slabs, drizzle with olive oil and salt and pepper and grill til softened and slightly charred. You can do these ahead of time and then they can be served at room temp, even people that say they don't like zucchini love this!
Fried egg on a toasted everything bagel with chipotle mayo
This is an old Italian dish - peel oranges, slice them and arrange on a platter, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle on a little salt and pepper. I know it sounds wierd but it is a delicious side dish that my family always makes in the winter.
I just mix turkey/chicken with chipotle mayo (mayo and diced chipotles in adobo)
Oops, forgot the last step, thicken with a little cornstarch and water
Use it as a base for sweet and sour sauce. Thin a little with water, add a little soy sauce, vinegar and fresh ginger
Pecan Pie!!
Grilled pesto pizza
Scrambled eggs with asparagus
dill pickles AND potato chips
I recently made a wing sauce using crushed pineapple, brown sugar, soy sauce, fresh grated ginger and fresh lime juice. Then baked the wings in the sauce. Very good!!
Here's another girl whiskey fan, I knew there had to be more of us out there! :-)
Feel the same way :-) We put it on everything!! Never thought to add some lime juice though, great idea!
Trying to grow as much of my own produce as I can
I hate overpriced, crappy alcohol too! A friend of mine insisted that the only vodka he liked was Grey Goose. So I saved an empty Grey Goose bottle and refilled it with the cheapest vodka I could find. He never noticed the difference!! Once you mix it with something, it doesn't matter!!
Hey, anyone ever tried Northern Light whiskey? It's pretty tasty and only $6.50 for a fifth!! :-) If it tastes good, drink it! Who cares what the label or the price tag says.
My MIL made us a dinner once with roasted turkey (barely edible), instant mashed potatoes, gravy that tasted like Crisco (and was the same color as Crisco), canned yams and mock apple pie for dessert. Mock apple pie, as in make with Ritz crackers instead of apples!!!!????!!!!
Try adding a handful of crumbled blue cheese. Melts into everything and just adds that extra bit of yummy. Even people who don't like blue cheese have loved this. They can't even tell its in there.
mash them up and add to pancake batter
Anything that we eat as a family

My family and I will be driving from Michigan to Florida for Spring Break and I would like to find some great places to stop and eat along the way. We will be taking I-75 and would like to find some great restaurants, the places that the locals eat, within 10 miles of I-75. Any type of food from diner to steakhouse to Thai food, but no chain restaurants!! Any recommendations? Thanks!
I just read something that said in April, PepsiCo was going to start selling "Pepsi Throwback" and Mountain Dew Throwback". Made with real sugar instead of HFCS. Has anyone else heard anything about this? Is it true?
