Desserts to cool off for a scorcher summer in nyc
Anyone got any must try desserts in NYC to help cool off from what seems to be a sizzling summer?
perhaps i'm anal but every time they do that i get nervous that they will miss something or mess up something. it doesn't impress me one bit.
had jury duty in this miserable weather and saw a new cart pop up by centre st i believe? weird name, woolys but they have some pretty amazing shaved ice. not sure what the name means. maybe thinking of ice age times? go figure. but i think i'm hooked. only thing i'm looking forward to for the rest of the week as i drudge on over to jury duty is some ice for my lunch break.
jester99 have you seen the coolhaus truck around? apparently they have some unique ice cream sandwiches. i have yet to try it but looking forward to it along with your suggestions above. thanks! can't believe it's getting up to 100 tomorrow, absolutely insane. we're all going to melt!
Oh yes! i tried that at the Brooklyn Flea Smorgasburg. It was delicious!

craver hasn't favorited a post yet.
@ Annbe- def woolys ftw! weird name but who cares!
really snopo was first? guess i missed the opening. i had this place woolys way back in the beginning of the summer? or was it late spring?
i don't know about you guys but i tried snopo recently and it tastes plasticy. blech! i went here a few weeks ago after i had woolys ice and wanted to see if it was the same. definitely not! i don't know what they put in their mix but it has a strange chewy texture and a weird aftertaste. The only thing that it's got going for them is a similar texture to woolys which is what i loveeeeeeeee but def doesn't even come close. all the other shaved ice places out there are the typical plain crunchy shaved ice that clumps up after a while and you end up chewing it instead. woolys has a soft fluffy snow-like texture that no one else can compare to along with their fresh fruits and homemade brownies who can go wrong? it's def something for those who appreciate the ice itself just like pinkberry's yogurt. it's not so much about the toppings as it is the ice. i get it plain sometimes even! go get some before the season ends! i know i will!
sidenote: g/ check out kelvin's slush too! it's like grownup slushies!
