Cocoron Shows Us What Soba Should Taste Like

I love Cocoron. I've been there many times and love the food and the service. The noodles have always been cooked just right with the right amount of chew. The flavors are great and I really love the more daring flavors. I also love the tofu appetizer. Their almond tofu dessert is also spot on with great flavor, texture and presentation.

I love the stamina soba as well but I think my favorite is the ikura soba. The salty little eggs match the noodles extremely well. They also do freshly ground sesame seeds for the natto soba. I'd have gotten that too but natto is not a flavor I like.

Now that it's gotten yet another write up, I suppose I'll have to wait even longer for a seat.

Croissant Burger

After seeing Momofuku's Rye croissant filled with pastrami and sauerkraut I could imagine a squarish croissant made of a stronger dough working fine with a burger. Butter and burger is awesome. See Minetta Tavern for example.

Some ideas for building it. A thin layer of mayo on the bottom "bun" would keep some of the juices from totally soaking it, maybe a slice of cheese too. The flakiness, esp of the top part would make me feel like I had lettuce without all that pesky veggie stuff ;-)

Chain Burger Brackets: Five Guys vs. White Castle

@chicharronylimon

That made me spit coke all over my keyboard laughing.

@Tony jaguar

Damn you. I wish I could have In-n-Out without a cross country flight. :D

Chain Burger Brackets: Five Guys vs. White Castle

Doesn't quite fit, a burger vs a slider in a burger bracket? Ignoring that, beef patty sandwich to beef patty sandwich 5 guys kick the snot out of White Castle on taste. Besides, 5 guys give you free peanuts while you wait.

Where Do You Get Your Favorite Burger?

I still gotta go with Shake Shack for my favorite burger but I do have a soft spot for Molly Shebeen on 3rd Ave and 22nd st. Now that its warm in NYC I'll probably hit up Molly's since the lines at the Shack will be unbearable except for nighttime.

Nolita Says No to Shake Shack

I'm glad Danny's not taking an a$$hole approach to this but DAMN I wanted that Shake Shack there. I heard some stupid arguments such as don't want tourists there, restaurants shouldn't be across the st. from a church to my favorite. "No one wants to smell burgers" Hell, I do.

I'm still able to visit Mad. Sq. Park whenever I want so I'll still get my fix but it would have been nice to roll out of bed and get a shack burger.

Hell, they should take over some of the spots on Mott st that's been closing. They all have street side seating with the tree benches anyway.

Unsurprisingly, There's sNOw Line at the Shake Shack Today

I already hit up the Shack and spent my whole lunch break in Madison Sq Park. It's a beautiful day. People are way too soft.

PS. The Daily Special Concrete Vanilla custard with apple cider donut was awesome.

An Awesome Keychain: The Bacon Avocado Cheeseburger Tower by Re-Ment

New Year's Eve I was at Mitsuwa buying these 2 at a time until I got the burger one :-p Very evil that some others have the same shape, like the stack of pancakes. The cashiers thought I was crazy going back over and over.

I also got the re-ment food displays. One of them was a burger, plate of onion rings and a glass of coke. I'll have to take some photos of that soon.

For now, I'm using the burger as a zipper pull on my jacket :D

Shake Shack Now Taking Phone Orders

Already used it, Shake Shack with no wait is my idea of heaven.

Dear AHT: No Love for Shake Shack

What's that saying? "Opinions are like @$$holes, we all have one"?

But seriously, to each their own. You like what you like for whatever reason. I happen to like Shake Shack. I've eaten burgers all over and I still come back to the Shack when that craving hits. Line or no line. It is one of very few places I would line up at.

I do like the In-n-Out burger but I like Shake Shack more. It's a juicier, tastier blend of meat. I wish I could pay In-n-Out prices but then the line would be even longer. I love a nice juicy burger with lots of flavor. Its almost like complaining your steak leaves juices on the plate.

The long wait is a pain I grant you that but Shack fans learn the best times to go. And of course the Shack cam helps if you're in the neighborhood. Personally I love to go when there's a snowstorm. Enjoy my burger and shake with fellow Shack fans.

I dont know how many places he went to as NYC has plenty of substance when it comes to food. If he only went to foofoo hyped up places then sure, but that's the same for any city.

Dear AHT: Sick of Undercooked Burgers

I vote for rare to medium rare. I think it makes for amazing food porn and there's nothing I hate more than a dry burger. Very few places make a decent well cooked burger. Shake Shack is the most well done burger I can enjoy usually.
