I've lived in St. Louis all my life and this is the best pizza in the city.

Ed Levine's Serious Diet, Week 67: How Could Anyone Finish That?

I'm surprised you ask, "How could anyone finish that" in refrence to the mac and cheese yet for lunch you had hot dog, cheeseburger, custard, and mac and cheese. If I were on a serious diet, I'd be asking a different question.

Cook the Book: 'Ten'

I wanted falaful in the worst way one night last fall but when I got to the restaurant in my area that sells it, they were shut. Being a college student, without a car, I proceeded to walk 2 miles each way at night to satisfy my craving.

I've switched to eating meat once a day. I'm not quite as strict as he is, I will eat it at lunch or dinner, but eating it once a day has made a big difference.

Sweet Potato Fries -- Who Likes These Things?

I agree with Buffy. I'm not a fan of regular fries and I have never had a deep fried sweet potato fry, but I love the ones I make in my oven. I think the burnt ones are best!

Low Calorie Granola?

Whole Foods has this delicious Pumpkin Flax Granola in the bulk section that is 140 calories/.5 cup. It's really, really good.

I put ____ in my yogurt

I love Fage or TJs Greek yogurt. The ideal combination for me is some Kashi Go Lean Crunch and a handful of berries. I will also ocassionally do banana and honey if I'm out of berries.

Where Do We Get a Good Slice in Portland, Oregon?

I wouldn't consider it New York style, but I second the Pizzicato recommendation. It's one of the most delicious slices I've had this year.

Nas's 'Fried Chicken' Song

This is one of my favorite songs on his new album. The whole album is good. I love the line that mentions "Greeks with their falafel, Italians with their tam-ato pasta". Nas is awesome.

My favorite cold cereal is _____

My favorite right now is Kashi Go Lean with a banana and some cinnamon. I have a special cereal bowl I have to use every morning too. Usually I go year to year on cereals, in the past Cinnamon Life, Crispix, Wheaties, and Nature Valley Cereal have been favorites.

Pi Pizzeria, St. Louis: Checking Out President Obama's Purported Favorite Pie

My mileage has varied. I've been to both Zachary's and Little Star 10+ times (splitting my time between their Valencia and Divisidero locations). I find Little Star consistently better and not prone to the undercooked disease that can sometimes consume Zachary's deep dish pies. Plus, although not relevant to this discussion, the "other stuff" (salads, desserts) etc... is miles beyond Zachary's offerings.

That said, I still think Zachary's turns out a good product and were I an East Bay resident as opposed to an SF resident, I'm not sure whether I'd do bart + a cab to get the incremental Little Star benefit.

I like that they buy local produce (and the staff's T-shirts that has a circle-slash on Provel).

I'm not a fan or Little Star either. I'm just not in the "a bunch of barely broken up tomatoes = sauce" camp. But that's just me.

Gepperths is a wonderful place owned by wonderful people. Agreed.

My favorite breakfast is Lula Cafe up in Lincoln Square- food is great. service can be touch and go, but if you're out for a slow Sunday brunch, no big deal, have a cocktail, it's the weekend :) expect a wait, and don't be surprised by all of the too cool for themselves hipsters.

Lou Mitchell's is just ok- but gives fresh donuts on the weekend as you wait and milk duds to kids

Wow Mr. Nagrant you really got some stones thrown at you in the comment section. While I have only lived in Chicago for two years I think your review is really exceptional. The mentioning of pequod's, Al's and GEPPERTHS! I think you really got it down, awesome summary!

Please note indigenous Chicagoans there is no mention of LouMalnatis here. Mostly because its not good.

Where Do We Get a Good Slice in Portland, Oregon?

NY NY on Barbur off the Terwilliger curbs is run by a true NY import and has the closest to the real thing I've found. He got written up in the local pages back in '01 I think for having the largest pie in town, thus requiring a dine in only because they couldn't make a box big enough. Slices are massive and topped to order.

Once I had the oppurtunity to obtain some fresh road kill.Cant say what kind it was for fear of offending dog lovers, but i cleaned the meat up,removed any obvious road debris, boned it out.Ground it up with a coarse blade, mixed some fine pig fat in with it for moistness and flavor, then proceeded to make the worlds best onion burger,on a toasted sesame seed bun with pickles an special sauce. MMMMM

My nephew made up a burger that he calls a Squeezal Burger. I know it is not "good" for you. It is delishous. I don't know exactly what is in it. I know I saw him grinding the beef with a pound of bacon and adding loads of spices. I know that one of his secret ingredients is morel mushrooms dried and then ground into a powder.
