Dram Shop, Because Fried Mac and Cheese and Hamburgers Does a Body Good

I was unimpressed by the burger and thought the wings were terrible on a visit a couple of months ago, but I'll have to go back and try the fried mac and cheese!

i go to dram frequently and always get the burger and only once was I serverly disappointed...it came to me overcooked and cold...frankly I almost decided never to go back...but i tried again and had a great experience...and yes the deep fried mac and cheese is a drunkard's dream food..but I'm usually too sober to order it

@mh330: Sorry to hear about your crappy experience! The burger wasn't dry during my visit though; quite the opposite. I guess it's inconsistent.

SO DISAPPOINTED!!! Not just in the burger, but quite frankly by Serious Eats. :(

I went to Dram Shop last night *specifically* because it was well reviewed here. The cheeseburger was probably the worst i've had in a while. It *did* taste like an upscale Big Mac, i'll give you that. But the 2 thin-as-paper patties were so well done (its pretty much impossible to get a medium-rare temp on something so thin, but still) it was gross. Really lean meat + overcooking = dry, gross burger. I didn't even finish mine, and that says a lot. And i like to slather my burgers with lots of mayo and ketchup and it was still a dry awful mess.

I didn't get a chance to try the mac & cheese, which i am supremely tempted by, but based on this review i don't know if i can trust that they're good.

Meanwhile, Black Iron Burger, which was reviewed recently is AWESOME, despite the crappy review it got.

I don't even know who you are anymore, SE.

The best is at a new place that's not on your radar yet but should be: the redhead at 349 E. 13th Street (just west of 1st Ave.) Meg's fried chicken is amazing - crisp, greaseless, delicious.

[disclosure: I get extra pickled onions in my Gibson here]
