Oikos Yogurt

I like Fage but find it very overpriced for a rather small cup -- Oikos is good, but lately I've switched to Chobani Greek yogurt--available at Whole Foods and other stores in northern New Jersey -- it comes in flavors, but I always get the Vanilla and add trail mix, gogi berries, etc. to it -- delicious -- and the price is less than Fage,

..... Parmesan Cheese! The real deal --- all dishes made with Parmesan -- could get very creative!, but nothing too strange- no chocolate/parmesan desserts, etc. Other than that, it would be heaven!

P.S. Re the garlic themed restaruant -- in Madison, NJ there is a restaurant called Garlic Rose -- all garlic, all the time, every dish -- I can't go near the place and if you are with someone who does, you can't go near them for a couple of days.

Bring PB&J up a notch!

Crunchy peanut butter spread on grainy bread, topped with very thin slices of apples, sprkled with cinnamon! Excellent!

Would you rather give up ice cream or cookies?

Could never give up cookies! A good homemade cookie with oatmeal, chocolate chips, nuts and dried cherries is one of life's simiple, but exquisite pleasures.

My brand-new favorite is a Maple Baked Tofu recipe published in the fall issue of Eating Well -- it's delicious-- don't be turned off by the "maple"--it's just a tiny bit of pure maple syrup that makes for a delicious, complex flavor. Baking tofu is such a refreshing change from all those tofu stir-fry recipes.

A trip down memory lane: What food makes you smile?

Pastina cooked in chicken broth with a beaten egg added while the broth boils--finished off with butter and lots of parmesan once the mixture thickens. Delicious! My mother always made it for me when I had a bad cold as a kid. I made it for my daughter who is now 23 and still loves it.

In Chongqing. I recent ate at a hot pot restaurant called Zhu's Fagty Rot Hot-Tot. I have the napkin to prove it. What is this: a restaurant for gay pedophiles?

Oikos Yogurt

My husband bought Okios for me when looking for "Greek yogurt" and it was OK - in a pinch, however I found it not as creamy as everyone has already said and not nearly as filling plus a little sour (and more calories than the 0%). I just opened one (Okios) today and it was curddled!! and runny and the expiration date was 9/30! (today is 9/5) - that's it - I don't care how much more Fage costs, I won't be substituting Okios for it again. The only place I have found it is at Trader Joe's (in Paramus, NJ) and at a Price Chopper Supermarket near Lake Geroge, NY. Does anyone know if A&P, ShopRite, Costco or StopNShop carries Fage in the lower Hudson Valley, NY area? or at any other store I haven't mentioned??

There's a Chinese restaurant here in Portland, OR called Hung Far Low. I have no idea why.

There used to be a place called Takee Outee in the French Quarter. There was one right up the street from Pat O's. The eggrolls were huge, delicious and exactly what we needed after a few Hurricanes. Good times.

Definitely peanut butter. I, too, have eaten at Peanut Butter & Co. in New York (and LOVED it), but I'd love to have a more upscale restaurant and definitely an even larger menu than they currently do. Peanut butter can be used in so many ways - from sweet to savory, appetizers to dessert, Latin American to Thai flavors, and just about everything in between.....

Oh my gosh - a garlic restaurant! Brilliant!

eatorama - ever heard of "Cheeburger Cheeburger"? They do something like that, with all the crazy toppings & whatnot. Give 'em a google search sometime, check out the website. We got one in LR about a year ago (or so), but... honestly... when I went there it was all hype and not a lot of delivery.

@johnfred--you made me think about a sauce I haven't made in a long time--vanilla bean burre blanc. The vanilla bean is opened and added into the cream and vinegar when they are reduced. Then you remove the bean and proceed as usual.

I am a HUGE HUGE fan of Sunflower Seed butter with bananas and unfiltered wildflower honey on whole wheat. The sunflower butter is amazingly good and balanced with the sweetness of the honey.

"The Oinkster" on Colorado in LA's Eagle Rock neighborhood is the best worst name I know. While the name is a total joke, the food is not!

I stopped in there in late December and got a generous serving of their belgian fries w/ garlic aioli. So damn good, I finished them all.

Oink, oink, baby.
