Serious Green: Saving Energy By Using The Microwave

So nice to talk about microwaves without being lectured on the evils of using them (a gal in my organic produce co-op belittled me for using my microwave to dry some fresh herbs). I also use mine for softening butter and cream cheese for mixing if I forgot to take them out earlier, making peanut brittle, pralines, and toffee (!!), and almost all the ideas already mentioned.

Cook the Book: 'Serious Barbecue' by Adam Perry Lang

I made some turkey burgers and failed to read the instructions, which called for cooking them on a griddle or in a skillet. Hamburgers are supposed to be grilled, right? So I handed the plate to my husband, who went outside to put them on to cook. He came in after about 30 seconds, and sheepishly asked me to come look. He had placed the first burger on the grill, and, being a turkey burger that didn't hold together welll, it had disintegrated through the grill rack and was now splattered all over the coals. Needless to say I grabbed the rest and brought them back inside to cook in a skillet!
