Left Bank/Paris Cafes

I would recommend "La Coupole" for a drink or a cafe and "La Closerie des Lilas" for a romantic dinner. Both are mythic places in Paris, close to your Hotel (Montparnasse area).
Also, if you have time, go to Montmartre to see the Sacre-Coeur and the Place du Tertre. Montmartre is very special place with a great parisian ambiance. It is also a nice spot to have a large view of Paris.
I also love Notre-Dame ... But 2 days is maybe too short!

The 10-Ingredient Shopping List

My ten-ingredient French shopping list would be:

1. Baguette
2. Dijon Mustard
3. Fleur de Sel
4. Provence Herbs
5. Extra virgin olive oil
6. Creme Fraiche
7. Salted Butter
8. Cheese
9. Chocolate
10. Red Wine

Now I live in the US and some of my favorite ingredients are not always easy to find out! What is interesting is that I discovered in the US other key ingredients that I did not use so often in France like Garlic, Cinnamon, and Pecans!!

Monin Syrup vs Da Vinci vs Torani: what do YOU prefer?

I prefer syrups by Teisseire who is leader in France (Monin is just behing Teisseire on the French market). Teisseire syrups contain no artificial colors and no preservatives. People love them, especially kids. There are many ways to use Teisseire syrups. You can simply add water (1 bottle makes 5 quarts of cold drinks. Or you can use Teisseire syrup to flavor tea, pastries, and ice cream. My favorite flavor is Mint syrup that I use on top of chocolate ice cream! You can get Teisseire syrups online here:
