Hey guys, long-time reader, first-time poster. It's become pretty clear to me that an almost cult-like fanaticism exists around In-N-Out and Steak Shake here, both of which I am going to try within the next few weeks. My girlfriend - currently working in Cali - is taking me to Mel's as well, but I'm very excited for my first In-N-Out (if you have any other suggestions, throw them out there!). Likewise, I just found out there's a Steak Shake in DuPont Circle, and plan to visit before I leave. Exciting!
Now, last year, around winter break, I went on a little bit of a Burger Tour with my friend. To name a few firsts, we stopped at Steak n' Shake (my parents hail from St. Louis, so it will always have a place in my heart, and my friend had never tried it), Culver's, and, by far my favorite ever - no hyperbole - the Big Boy in Independence, MO.
Now, I am not sure if it's a Bob's or a Frisch's, or whatever (my Frisch's experience was exceptionally... average), but that burger was by far THE BEST burger I've ever had in my life. It was a juicy, beefy epiphany! And, to make it fair, we never smoked beforehand on the Burger Tour, so as to give every burger a fair run. Suffice to say, I elevated to a higher plane of existence that night. That little brick shack remains my Shangri-La.
So, why, then, do I not see anything about Big Boy here - ever? Not even a mention? Is it too inconsistent in franchise to review? All I found was some article about getting it at an airport! Do other Big Boy fans hide in the woodwork here?
