You live where?

Normally I float between northern NJ and upstate NY (home/family and school) but I'm currently located in Wellington, NZ--quite far away! SE is just as tasty down here too...

Airplane Food

@Silvia--I completely agree about Air NZ. I wasn't even hungry for dinner but I ate all of it anyway cause the chicken was so tasty...

Have you discovered any new amazing foods lately?

This is really silly, but Whittaker's chocolate peanut slabs. (I'm in NZ and so I'm finding that packaged goods and candies not found in the US are pretty exciting no matter what.) Peanut slabs look like small bricks of gold bouillon and taste amazingly velvety and crunchy.

Also fresh creamed manukka honey. Mmmm....

What do you put in your oatmeal?

A tablespoon or two of pumpkin puree and some brown sugar with vanilla extract and cinnamon...topped with dried cranberries, almonds, and a splash of soymilk.

Just had a bowl a few hours ago!

Oatmeal: Way or No Way?

I just finished a big bowl for breakfast as well! WAY for everything--breakfast, breads, cookies, fruit crisp toppings...yum.

What to Do With: Candied Ginger?

I love adding a few chopped pieces to the mix whenever I make granola from scratch. It's an awesome surprise among the other dried fruits you typically find in granola, like raisins/cranberries/dates etc.

'Culinary Slumming'

Entenmann's raspberry danishes--my grandma buys a box of entenmann's baked goods at least a few times a week (day old, always on sale). I like to go to her house for tea because she'll put it on the table and insist I eat some...

Also, Kraft mac n' cheese--staple of little kids and college students everywhere!

Favorite Oatmeal Concoction?

I like rolled oats with a bit of vanilla extract, brown sugar, walnuts, raisins and soymilk. It makes the house smell amazing and goes great with your morning coffee!

Recipes in Like Water for Chocolate

I loved the movie and the novel; unfortunately though I don't think the DVD has any special recipe section...that would be a great idea though! I'd love to try the quail with rose petals too. It's such an interesting concept!

About cardamompod

Website:

Location: NJ/NY/NZ

About: My first solid food was something along the lines of cavatelli with garlic and broccoli. I'd like to say I remember every bite since then.

Favorite foods: How could I begin to answer this?

Last bite on earth: Granola with greek yogurt and a sip of chai tea--you still have to start off your last day the right way.
