Book Giveaway: Mike Colameco's Food Lover's Guide to NYC

Luigi's restaurant in New Hyde Park, NY. Their fried calamari and wood oven pizzas are the best I've ever tried.

Impromptu Taste Test: The Cult of Yakult

@ilovermonteats: Yes, Yakult is a probiotic.

Although Yakult has a high sugar concentration, given it small bottle size (65 ml), it only has 11 grams of sugar per serving, which is less than the amount of sugar in most yogurts (except plain yogurts or those with sweeteners).

Impromptu Taste Test: The Cult of Yakult

Yakult was one of my favorite beverages during my childhood (in Hong Kong), and I think I used to drink 1-2 bottles a day. It has a very refreshing taste, especially when it's icy cold. I also remember collecting those little foil lids in exchange for some promotional items...forgot what they were since it's ages ago. I think the color of the print on the bottle and the lids come in red or green, but I've only seen red ones here in the US. Oh my goodness, the above photo alone is enough to bring back very fond childhood memories...
Thank you for the post, Grace, even though I'm not on your side :)

Cook the Book: '660 Curries' by Raghavan Iyer

My first encounter with Indian cuisine was about 7 years ago when my former co-workers took me to an Indian buffet restaurant...I've been in love with Indian cuisine ever since :)

Biggest failure: my first attempt to make banana bread during college years. We realized we have forgotten to add flour when the thing had already been baking for 20 minutes.

L'ecole Dress Code

I don't believe these's any dress code at L'Ecole. During the several times that I've been there, I've seen some people dressed in jeans and sneakers whereas others in cocktail dresses and suits. The vast majority, however, fell somewhere in the middle of the spectrum.

Either a light weight dress, as suggested by meem21, or a nice top plus skirt/a pair of dress pants will work for both the lunch and theater settings. Since you will be walking the whole time, make sure you wear a pair of comfortable walking shoes.

Weekend Giveaway: Tickets to NYC Food Film Festival Opening Night

Being a chocoholic, I'd have to say it's the movie chocolat...not any scene in particular...but just the thought of being surrounded by the sight and aroma of this heavenly dessert, and also the presence of the charismatic Johnny Depp is enough to make me drool.

I love dark chocolate, especially those Valrhona Guanaja 70% feves.

How do I indulge in chocolate? Hohoho, it could be complicated as preparing a chocolate souffle (it's actually not that difficult), or as simple as popping the feves in my mouth, or anything in between, such as making chocolate-dipped strawberries.
