What's Your Drunk Pizza of Choice?

Pizza Autentica (DC area) - the Ballston location near the hockey rink where my husband plays on Friday nights (and where I usually eventually stumble back to myself). It's a little too greasy for non-drunk consumption, though still doable during the day. But it really hits the spot at 2 a.m.!

The Vegan Experience, Day 13: The Halfway Mark

Kenji I just wanted to comment how much I've enjoyed this series. I'm an omnivore (though I did do a "Mostly Meatless March" last year, and plan to repeat it this year) but I just think the coverage has been so thoughtful, interesting and comprehensive. I'm not interested in going vegan permanently, but it still provides lots of fodder for thought and discussion.

Staff Picks: Foods We Want to Eat More of in 2012

Mm, good call on slow cooked pork, tofu and meatless.

For myself, I'd add more sushi, Scotch, weird grains, root veggies and fish as well. Less alcohol in general.

Soda: Any Tab Fans Out There?

One of my early childhood memories is the fact that my aunt would always travel with Tab, wherever she went, including our house. She had to start her day with it.

Dinner Tonight: Steamed Salmon with Garlic and Ginger

Yeah, rigging up the steamer thing was annoying, but this recipe is delicious!

Cook the Book: 'Ruhlman's Twenty'

I think salting's a great answer. But I'm going to go with stir-frying. Stir Fry Sundays are a ritual in my house and it's usually the most foolproof "clean out the fridge" technique when it comes to using up spare ingredients.

Where To Eat Near Times Square, NYC

It's been years (7 of them, actually) but I have fond memories of Pongsri (48th and 8th?), the place which introduced me to Thai food as a naive transplant from Cleveland.

Weekend Giveaway: 'The Food Matters Cookbook'

Over the past year, we've stuck with Weight Watchers, started a CSA, bought a half pig from a farm we trust, and bought much of our produce from the farmers market.

But this month has been the most interesting: we're doing Mostly Meatless March, basically our own take on flexitarian diet. We do vegetarian only breakfast/lunch, and seafood is ok for dinner. I built in the possibility that I would occasionally eat meat at an event (I'm a food reporter), but so far all that's led to is about 2 oz of duck last week. We're really enjoying the change - it challenges us to find alternative protein sources, boosts our veggie eating and in general we feel much healthier - we'll see if the change lasts into April.

Poll: Do You Give Food As Gifts?

This year I did infused bourbon and bourbon-caramel truffles (Cooking Light recipe for the latter).

Healthy & Delicious: 30-Minute Chicken Tagine

Adapting this for the crock pot tonight; we'll see how it goes. Browned chicken and onions etc. first, not using microwave, adding lemon.

Serious Heat: Bloody Mary Love

Lots of horseradish and salt, lemon juice, celery stalk, Old Bay, garlic optional. I like it with V8. Shrimp garnish sounds terrific.
