the crust was sort of like a strudel and the chickpea puree in the middle was almost as creamy as canolies and mixed with chocolate bits and i think cinnamon on it with powder on it

You can take the coke, I'll take my peanuts boiled (pronounced bowled) cajun style and on my way to Gulf Shores!.... of course I have to shovel my car out first!

try googling cavezune or ceci cookies. This is how I recall the filling with chocolate and cecis.

Peanuts and Coca-Cola

definately a southern thing. first time i saw someone do it in the mid 70's here in florida i was kinda grossed out. btw it's pepsi or RC in the south, not coke. then i tried it once. definately different, salty/sweet/crunchy and juicy all in one. it was pretty good but i didn't make a habit of it.

I'm not sure if this is it, but I found a recipe online for Casatelli in the cookbook "A Baker's Odyssey" If you do a Google search for both, you should find it. It doesn't have chocolate in it, but otherwise it sounds similar. Let us know if this could be it.
