NIck, please go in there and help them out... They need to be shown how to get it done today... This place has so much going for it, a simple tweak here and there can make the differance between a ok burger vs. a great one. But to me the whole experience not just the burger...

AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
Is there really a question here ?
AHT Poll: What Type of Mustard is Best on a Burger?
Mustard on a hamburger? NEVER!!!!
AHT Poll: What Condiments Do You Like on Your Burger?
I guess you could put the sliced pickles under "other"
AHT Poll: What Condiments Do You Like on Your Burger?
I think it also depends on where you grew up? Being from Long Island no one ever heard of putting mustard or mayo on a burger??? Not even McD's or B.K. did this... Big no no... We grew up with ketchup only crowd...
I know the South is a big mayo on everything, but its kind of strange New England is more Ketchup... While PA,MD DE are more Mustard
Like I said it all depends to what you grew up with and where you grew up..
For example: the Northeast is more Hellmans mayo, Heinz ketchup while the mid west loves Miracle Whip and Hunts Ketchup....
There no right or wrong just what ever you like...
Dear AHT: Have You Ever Gotten Food Poisoning from a Burger?

P.J. Clarke's Serves 'Lost' Star Jorge Garcia's Favorite Burger
The World Financial Center location precooks their burgers.... Not good in my book but the place is huge and with outdoor eating its all volume not quality... Sick to the Original midtown location on third it is still great!!!

McDonald’s Angus Burger, Nearing National Rollout
I have tried these and wanted them to do well but?? It just misses as well as most of their burger items today. I agree they better cooked then Qtr pounder but McDonalds has gotten so sloppy in terms of how they prepare their burgers. Since the 90's their burgers lay in warming trays Their burgers are never Hot. The cheese is never melted.. I always have to ask them to reheat (nuke) up their burgers.. Which I get back a steaming hockey puck. I was always a fan until the mid 80's when they switched over to the clam shell cooker... Now it's the clam shell cooked any sits in a warming tray that actually doesn't keep them warm (because they would dry out). I know people say just tell them to make you a fresh one, but I dont want to be one of those people... Just do it right to begin with and I wouldn't be writing this to begin with. Sorry Ronald I'm passing on this one!

Ate there today. We ordered as per above. Burgers were one degree over-cooked. Onions were good. Burgers were small but I was glad to not be too full afterwords.
I rate them as fine if you are in the area but not worth a trip.

I tried this place today and asked for the burger salted and from scratch medium rare. Waiter says "We don't salt". OK. Comes back TWO MINUTES later with a dry grayish burger. I don't think it was made from scratch. It was 1130am and there were 10 people in there. The service seemed more FU than NY Sweet and Sour.

Can we say BULLSHIT on this site? 'Cause if we can, I'm calling it.
The Hamburger Fatty Melt, a Burger with Two Grilled Cheese Sandwiches as Its Bun
Lettuce? Whaddya, crazy? Why? It adds nothing. Maybe some arugula (strong flavor) under the burger if you need a built-in salad, but plain old lettuce would just disappear.
But tomato in the grilled cheeses sounds good. Gotta have tomato on a cheeseburger.
I'm thinking maybe blue and swiss/Gruyère/Comté for the cheeses (one each), if not all extra-sharp cheddar. If using jalapeño cheddar (or better yet, habanero cheddar), only in one sammy, plain cheddar on the other. Otherwise the chiles will overwhelm everything else.
Bacon only if using cheddar. And not too much. Still have to taste the burger. Balance is important.

So wait, i'm a little confused...
The fries were terrible and not fresh, the onion rings are terrible, the burger is normally not salted OR made from scratch.
Why am i reading another review of a terrible restaurant serving hospital food?

My grandmother took me to this place when I was a child in the late 1960s....I had skating lessons at Rockefeller Center and then we always came here for Hot Chocolate and a burger. I thought the swing out trays were so cool! I had no idea it was still there. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Ed.
AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
We need a Five Guys fan club! http://sixthguy.blogspot.com/
AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
@thesnorks: yes, you are the only one who thinks In-n-out is over rated. :)
I LOVE In-N-Out. Always have. Always will.
Five Guys is nowhere in the same league. Not even close.
AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
Lonely Guy said.........Of course, you can't specify temperature at In-N-Out and they usually cook burgers medium to well-done, but their patties are so thin that with cheese it's not really an issue.
When you go up to the counter and order your burger medium rare........and medium rare is what you will get!
You Can't Go Wrong with Sliders at Eat Rite Diner in St. Louis
Am I the only one offended by these being called 'Sliders'? They look like a nice quality burger for sure.
I know that the term 'Slider' has come to mean a small hamburger by most people these days. My understanding of a 'Slider' is quite different.
I grew up with the square, steamed low quality burger with minced onion (you all know the places I'm talking about). While these are tasty & I still get a craving for them sometimes, one trip every 2 or 3 years reminds me of why we call them 'Sliders'; They slide in ya, you get stomach cramps & then you get the poops! 'Slide out!
Not the sort of thing to be proud of.

I love the way this place looks.

I think we need to get to Eat Rite for the Slinger on my next road trip - albeit the sliders look DIVINE!!! *mouth watering - ala homer simpson* mmmmm sliders,....good!
You Can't Go Wrong with Sliders at Eat Rite Diner in St. Louis
The fries here are worth getting. They are the frozen McDonald's like shoestring variety, but fried in beef fat so they are extra delicious.
AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
I want to eat them both. As for a favorite, well. When I am on the right coast, I'll eat Five Guys, when I'm on the left coast, I'll eat In-N-Out Burger. If I ever get into a situation where I have to choose between the two, I'll just smile and get one from each.
AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
I give a slight edge to In-N-Out, simply because of consistency. I've eaten literally hundreds of both In-N-Out burgers and 5G burgers, and In-N-Out kills 5G in consistency. I *always* get a carefully built, good, quality burger from In-N-Out. I often get a 5G burger with the wrong toppings that looks like it's been sat upon.
I like a good 5G, but I'm finding myself increasingly disappointed in them as they expand.
AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
For the 15 years I lived in Southern California, I ate at In-N-Out on occasion, mostly because it was a cult thing. As the chain expanded, and I got older and my tastes got more refined and my wallet got less empty, my interest faded. The burgers were better than McD's and BK, but nothing special. These days, when I treat myself to a burger, I much prefer a thick, juicy, medium-rare cheeseburger with a side of twice-fried fries to any sort of lifeless thin-patty version.
I now live in a Five Guys region of the country and have given them a try. Again, nothing special. Although Five Guys and In-N-Out's burgers are quite different, the two places do seem to me to fall in the same category: burgers that are a notch above McD's and BK but still not worth the calories for a burger splurge.
AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
I refuse to eat at Five Guys because they cook their burgers to death; well-done is the only option -- they won't even cook burgers medium. There is no such thing as a "juicy" well-done burger. Of course, you can't specify temperature at In-N-Out and they usually cook burgers medium to well-done, but their patties are so thin that with cheese it's not really an issue.
AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
They are both excellent burgers, although In-N-Out provides a better value. From the value perspective In-N-Out takes the prize. Keep in mind that you can't find In-N-Out in most states, Five Guys is expanding like crazy and good thing, because it is really good.
AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
@HerbyN: I don't think liking one burger place over the other necessarily implies that the other isn't good. Both places are different and may appeal to different people. I'm not voting in this poll either because I don't have a preference (I like both of em), but apparently a lot of other people do.
If you have any suggestions for future polls though, please let us know!
AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
i've never understood this "either/or" thing with in-n-out and five guys, why there seems to be such a clamor to create a heated debate over the issue...
it's as if you have to like one to the exclusion of the other. why is that? i'm quite happy to be able to have BOTH burgers depending on my mood. they are both good. both different. i feel by choosing one as "better" it implies the other one isn't good. don't feel a need to do that. won't be participating in this poll....
i will say this... i'm not a big fan of the overly aggressive expansion model at Five Guys (opening too many locations to quickly). i think it will dilute the brand and cause problems with maintaining quality control between locations.
AHT Poll: Five Guys or In-N-Out?
This does not come down to which is a better burger as much as which business culture you prefer. I've always liked the look and feel of In-n-out and consider it to be genuine. However, 5 guys seems to be on a path of plain sameness, mall food court boring if you know what I mean. Yes I do like the fries, but enjoy the experience of In-n-out so much more.
