I had to take a cooking class as part of my Nutritional Science degree program. It was pretty basic but unfortunately some of the students had never stepped foot in a kitchen before.
We composted all of our kitchen scraps for use in the community garden. As I was walking by a group of students I overheard a girl say, "So, how does this compost work? Just throw it on the ground and see what grows?"
I was dumbfounded.
How about the commercial for the cooking/recipe app for the Nintentdo DS where the voice instruction says "slice the onion from pole to pole" and it shows all of the participants slicing the onion parallel to the "equator"? I laugh every time I see that.
Ha! I thought I was the only one who enjoyed the texture/feel of a sharp knife going into an onion! Luckily, I have contact lenses that keep the gases out of my eyes so I NEVER cry when cutting them... I used to dice them for hours as a prep cook. Happily, I might add.
